I first met Buzz around 1958 when he was working for "Duke and his Swingbillies" on channel 3 in Burlington Vt. and I was across the lake at Channel 5 in Plattsburgh N.Y., he's also a tremendous saxaphone player.

I did not know that. It would be cool to hear this!!! It is just very interesting though, that a man of this stature is playing here in this scenerio. I have heard that Buzz is going to play with "Heybale" with a man that I know, Redd Volkaert!

I just keep coming back to this video over and over. Your handling of the steel is so tasteful. You avoid the whiney quality so common to other players. The steel has such untapped potential and you are on the right track. I'd love to hear someone try classical music on it. How about a Bach cello piece someone?

In case you haven't heard, Buzz is having some tough times lately. He had a stroke and has lost his eye sight. As far as I know he is still playing, and if you know Buzz you will not be surprised to hear this. He can use help, however! Maybe you can help in a small way: teespring.com/BuzzCampaign?PA& (and get a great shirt at the same time!) Help spread the word, please!

Joe English Joe English you don't know jack sh---- about playing the steel guitar Buzz Evans is the Best bar none
@joeenglish58768 жыл бұрын
First off I never said Buzz wasn't good...I said I didn't like his version of that song...and he is not the best bar none...I lived in Nashville for ten years of my life and played steel on the road for Vern Gosdin, Jack Green, Barbara Fairchild, Charlie Louvin, and I worked at Sho-Bud as line foreman for two years. I do know jack sh-- about the instrument and I have 44 years of playing it. Paul Franklin is a friend and so is Mike Johnson and I totally agree with Mike Johnson when he said in his opinion that Buddy Emmons was the greatest player that ever walked on this planet...not to mention that he invented both the E9th and C6th tunings along with the pedal setups we all play today!!! Unless you are a professional steel player then I don't think you should be talking to me about it...Just because you happen to like some ones playing doesn't make that person the best...I think Buzz is a good player, but so am I, but that doesn't make me the best. Sorry to hear that he had a stroke.
@joeenglish58768 жыл бұрын
Maybe you should try a mallet and for your information I have perfect pitch...do you...I can put new strings on my guitar or steel and tune them up to 440 pitch without a tuner...just by ear...imagine that.
@joecaseyjr8 жыл бұрын
Most good players tune their horn with their fingers.Your way must make your ears bleed. Try tuning a Fish.
@joeenglish58768 жыл бұрын
Yada Yada...say what you want it doesn't change my opinion about the way Buzz played that song.
