I'm new to all these famous players but right away, I heard that Tommy sounds so different than the older players. Some of the licks are out of this world. I even heard him sound like Allan Holdsworth sounded on guitar. Amazing.

@southernsportsman424 Using two feet for the pedals on the C6 neck is common but you rarely see it happening on TV broadcasts as the camera is usually concentrated on the hands..... or if its a UK producer they normally show the fiddle or a fender strat during a steel guitar solo cos they havn't a clue which instrument the sound is comimg from !! Instructional videos will show the feet and the use of both feet on C6th pedals .

Just some trivia of the 614 model number; told to me by John Campbell. Jimmy Webb came in and asked John, "How many strings are there on a steel guitar?". Johns says, "Anywhere from 6 to 14".

Great sound! This reminds me of my cousin, the late Curly Chalker. Harold Lee "Curly" Chalker is a departed great of the pedal steel guitar, known as "Curls" to his friends and known surely by his sound, if not actually by his name, to mobs of country music fans. Chalker reached a huge audience playing steel guitar on the somewhat moronic Hee Haw television series for 18 years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curly_Chalker
@CARDINAL7013 жыл бұрын
Curly Chalker was a true virtuoso if pedal steel guitar; I watched him as a kid, on late night TV on the Hugh X. Lewis Country Club and then on Hee Haw . I wore the grooves completely off his album Big Hits On Big Steel, which my Dad bought me when I was 10. Curly blew me away, man, truly.
@MrPatdeeee3 жыл бұрын
Amen! Curly was the "King of chords" if there ever one. NO one will ever equal him in that endeavor. Yes Tommy White is truly one of THE greatest SG players; but the likes of Buddy Emmons and Curly Chalker have NO equals and never will. And that is those yet unborn May Jesus rest their souls.

Not sure what you're getting at here. Jimmy Webb didn't design or build the amps; he financed the operation. George Moore was the designer with input from John Campbell. Most were built by Ann Anderson.

'TOMMY WHITE', have you had 'LESSONS' from 'ROBERT RANDOLPH' the greatest 'JAZZ' steel guitarist in 'AMERICA'? !!!
@pedalsteelin73608 жыл бұрын
James Seddon, you have got to be kidding, Tommy White, the greatest pedal steel guitarist in the world, was playing professionally way before Robert Randolph was even born! BTW Robert Randolph plays mostly blues, R&B, funk, and rock, not Jazz, and tone... Tommy, the MASTER of TONE AND TECHNIQUE, has so much tone he could share with RR and a thousand other steel guitarists, and still have enough left over to be the indisputable King of TONE, any genre, anytime, anywhere! Totally different league, there's no comparison, TW is simply the best by far! Trust me on this, I've been listening to Steel Guitar Music since I was born in 1960.

@@pedalsteelin7360 Amen, amen and AMEN! You took the words right out of my mouth. For Tommy White comes the closest to Buddy Emmons (THE greatest SG player that will ever live) when it comes to "touch and tone". Robert Rudolph simply is not in this circle. He plays a lot of SG and he has MANY fans; but he could not carry Buddy's nor Tommy's case. NO way! The world should remember this: "True Jazz on a SG is RARELY done. Rather they "Jam", which is like Mac Atcheson's rhetoric: "It reminds me of a little boy in the back yard, shootin a 22 rifle in the air. He AINT hittin nothing; he's just shootin!".
@TMeAdventures3 жыл бұрын
I’m not in any way related to Robert Randolph musically or other wise. Love Robert’s playing. I don’t consider Robert a jazz player and neither does he. I’m the last true pedal steel jazz player living. Check yourself.
