Okay, first of all, Indonesia's map is not complete. It's missing western part of Papua. Since it's part of Indonesia, it's also part of Asia. Second of all, I'm amazed that they know where Timor-Leste is. Those 2 in black are such top-of-the-class students. Meanwhile, there are bottom-of-the-class students too, who are sooo happy for getting a higher score than expected, when it's actually the lowest one lol.

To point out the states completely in Asia there are 40, in addition there are 9 transcontinental states (Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, Cyprus, Indonesia, Egypt). Since Egypt is considered Africa and Russia, being a Slavic people that conquered Asia, we consider Europe if we have to choose between Europe and Asia, in more buzzfeeds it considered 2 countries in the list that are not part of the United Nations or both Palestine, Taiwan (technically an integral part of China), so the number is 50 but according to my calculation, the countries of Asia are 47 (there are no Russia, Taiwan and Palestine in the list).

Note that Palestine is recognized by the UN as a state. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states I guess the difference between Russia and Egypt is that _geographically_ , 77% of Russia's total area is in Asia, while 94% of Egypt's total area is in Africa. Therefore, it's legitimate to have Russia counted as a country in Asia, while Egypt is not. The argument that Russia is founded by a Slavic (= "culturally European") people is irrelevant, because we don't consider Canada, USA, Mexico, Australia etc. as Europe either.

As someone from East Asia, I think they do pretty well. I still have not been able to memorize all countries gaining independence after 1989 (I learned my geography way before then). Maybe some in Central Asia, but the Caucasus I definitely cannot.
