Not necessarily. Each historical figure was possessed by a separate demonic spirit, so she was possessed by the same demons that possessed those historical figures, not by the spirit of hitler

Yeah, same. They've done a cat scan, a contrast MRI, and an EEG and I've been having them for about 15 years now. I have no family history of them and my birth went normally, but I still have seizures once a year or so if I'm not treated, and when I wake up from them it's not unusual for me to be defensive and aggressive because I'm so disoriented from oxygen deprivation. Epilepsy is also a lot more common than people seem to realize and the stigma around it is as problematic as the seizures themselves, since it's really hard to keep a job once you've had a seizure there. It's important to educate yourself so that, in the unfortunate event somebody dear to you ends up with Epilepsy, you don't accidentally make choices that end up hurting them more than they'll already suffer.

my theory is that she had PANDAS/PANS. in the 70s it didn't have a name, meaning that she wouldn't have been able to be diagnosed with it. Some of the symptoms include: dialated pupils, hallucinations, delusions, ocd and food restriction, most of which annalise had. Non epilaptic seizures don't cause brain damage and they don't show up on an eeg so maybe that's what she was experiencing. i don't think she was possesed and i think she either had something like pandas/pans or a mental health condition.

the conditions PANDAS or PANS (brain inflammation caused by infections/viruses) could explain a lot of the symptoms she had. the seizures, delusions, disordered eating (her feeling she was not allowed to eat), the dilated pupils, and some other symptoms she experienced. - a sceptic 💕

For those of you who keep saying she is schizophrenic- had she been schizophrenic after all those years specific parts of her brain would have been enlarged and several parts would have been shrunken in size. Her brain autopsy showed zero abnormalities, no enlargements, nothing evident of someone who suffered from schizophrenia for that long. Severe mental illnesses doesn’t only affect behavior- the brain itself begins to become different in size, over enlarged amygdala, shrunken neo-cortex, this is how post autopsy reports can either confirm or refute if someone suffered from a severe mental illness and this girl had zero physical evidence of it within her brain

I truly believe this poor girl was suffering from a type of schizophrenia. My moms uncle had schizophrenia, he was convinced he was Moses and almost drowned trying to part water. He was also extremely strong when in a psychotic break… Also I have epilepsy and when I was diagnosed I had to have an MRI to check for damage. My brain has no damage yet I still have epilepsy as it can be caused by genetics so that’s not conclusive evidence to say she didn’t suffer seizures. I also found this interesting piece of research that states: “Schizophrenia patients probably are more prone to seizures than the general population. This vulnerability may be conferred by the neuropathological substrate of schizophrenia itself, as well as by the secondary effects of the illness and by exposure to medications that lower the seizure threshold.”

I would be freaked out too if I was told by my loved ones my seizures are demons and that I was being possessed. Temporal lobe epilepsy is a form of emotions, like deja vu or terror as if something terrible is going to happen. It causes scaring on your brain and untreated can lead to grandmal seizures. I know this because I have them. Luckily I have them controlled but I still get the deja vu seizure and during those seizures I’m aware of my surroundings and can even follow what someone is saying.

Given what we now know about psychiatric conditions and epilepsy, it almost certainly was mental health stuff exacerbated by being constantly scrutinised by people around her. That being said, the only unexplainable thing was how she knew details about that excommunicated priest. I guess you could argue that she probably read it somewhere, but at the same time, I can't imagine the Vatican are very open about having information like that available to the public. It's tragic and chilling either way.

I had a psychogenic seizure after anesthesia and I thrashed against people holding me down and couldn’t control my body. I hurt my back badly because of the muscle contractions. Despite having just been sedated for surgery, I was still strong enough to slam myself against the rails of the hospital bed. All of this was against my will, of course. The anesthesiologist walked over to my boyfriend at the time who was my ride home. My boyfriend said he looked pale in the face and a bit sweaty. The anesthesiologist said “I’ve been doing this for almost 20 years and I’ve never seen someone do what she did”. When my boyfriend asked for more info, he just said I was extremely violent but I looked ‘terrified’ which he admitted freaked him out. To watch someone flail and try to harm themselves while their face appeared terrified and afraid of what they were doing.

I've had seizures before, brought on by sudden withdrawal of Xanax after being on it for a year. I had no physical sensation warning me I was about to have one. My son just happened to be sitting next to me on the couch and glanced at me and shouted out to my husband that my eyes had rolled back in their sockets. My husband called an ambulance and they told him to lay me on my side until they turned up. I had zero consciousness during it. All I remember is waking up and finding myself lying on my side on the couch and feeling confused. I didn't understand why I was on te couch because I had no conscious recollection of deciding to go to sleep on the couch. I didn't know what day it was or what time of day it was. All I thought was to sit up and started to try to remember what had happened that I couldn't remember anything. I also didn't know who I was or my name. My husband yelled at me to lie down because the ambulance was on its way. I was confused and asked him what ambulance? He told me I had had a seizure and I just stared at him blankly and didn't know what he meant. When the ambulance came after checking me over they put me in it and took me to hospital. I remember lying in the stretcher just staring blankly at the people wondering where I was and where I was going. After I arrived at the hospital I started to feel tired and exhausted and all I wanted to do was go to sleep. The doctors wouldn't let me. I can remember all these details but they feel like they happened to someone else and I have no idea how I could not understand anything at the time but I can recall the event as a memory later in time. It would have been very easy to have been taken advantage of by anyone who wanted to hurt me while I went through the whole experience. I was not in control of my full mental capacity and certainly could not make informed decisions about anything.

When I was about 10 or so my mom brought home the Emily Rose movie from one of those $5 DVD bins at the store, and while I thought the movie wasn't that great or anything (there was a reason it was $5) I ended up watching the director's commentary because I had nothing better to do and I found out about Anneliese Michel. I spent the next several days scouring the internet doing research about her case and I legitimately scared myself into believing that I was opening myself up to demonic possession and didn't sleep for like 3 days. I'm a Shaniac skeptic through and through and I largely was back then too, but something about Anneliese's story just messed me up big time. To this day one of the exorcism audio recordings that wasn't played in this video is one of if not the most chilling piece of audio I've ever heard, literally sends chills down my spine.

7 years ago I would have said it's 100% schizophrenia, epilepsy and what not, but the doctors and the family simply overlooked it. However, my partner and I witnessed inexplicable events in 2 of the 4 flats we lived in, both of these were in old houses dating back to the end of the 19th century. Heavy tools flying across the kitchen for no reason, loud knocks and something huge crashing in dark rooms with zero mess, and all of this happening regularly, kind of convinced us there are things we don't know and can never explain. One of our cats used to lay on the threshold of our bedroom and growl non-stop for several hours in the middle of the night, like she only does when she's threatened. And that's like 1/10 of all the things that we encountered over the years. We are both sane people with no history of mental illnesses in the families, not religious or epileptic. So what do you make of that? And what do you make of the case of Anneliese? I really don't know. She really needed medical help, but there's something behind it, after all.

I developed epilepsy (juvenile myoclonic epilepsy) which is usually genetic but there's no history in my family of epilepsy so in rare cases stress can cause your body to go into a defence mode to save you from stress hence mine So I would look into her home life as well as her medical history

You don’t need to have brain damage to have seizures. Seizure meds can have a lot of other drug interactions and can affect mood. The CDC listed Tegretol as a hazardous drug because it can have severe side effects. I feel like if Anneliese had been born in the 90s, the outcome would be very different. RIP, Anneliese.
