Lol when she said "I cannot afford my services" I like how real they were
@Woodshadow6 жыл бұрын
kae confuses me because she helps people who are trying to avoid eviction. If people are getting evicted they probably can’t afford to live where they are. I think I filed eviction on 5 people in the last year. There was no way for them to win in court. To be fair our lawyer was da bomb and he wouldn’t let us file unless our paperwork was in order. He would send it back and say fix this or else they could have a case for not having the paperwork correct

@user-qx1gb6nk7l5 жыл бұрын
David Sawyer there is a wide range of majors that lawyers have in undergrad. I’ve seen that there are even some music majors that end up in law school and do extremely well. You can pretty much major in anything you want as long as you can get good grades. The majority of law schools you apply to don’t really care what your major was. They mostly care about the grades you got and whether they believe you are disciplined enough for their program. Just like any stereotype, there are people who break that norm. Some lawyers like math, some don’t. I think your time would be better spent focusing on yourself rather than focusing on the lives of others and whether or not this KZbin video is credible or not. It isn’t going to affect your life either way.
@davidsawyer37375 жыл бұрын
Luke respectfully, I’m going to have to disagree. I am a law student at Columbia university in NYC so I do feel I have some credibility here. There are some outliers, you are correct in that however, I would say about 70-80% of people are political science or psychology majors and here is why. If you are a music major you have not taken the prerequisites to begin taking the 2000 classes. (2000 classes are grad school classes which usually require quite a few prerequisites) I am not sure where you got your info but unfortunately it isn’t quite right.

In my province (I live in Canada), the amount of female lawyers is slightly higher than that of male lawyers (with 50.4% of lawyers being women and 49.6% being men) and statistics show that the field is increasingly becoming a majority female field in my province. It is nice to show women in fields like this, but can we not act as though it's something out of ordinary? No one would make a comment like this one if this was a video about teachers, or nurses. Like law isn't actually a male dominated field as it's made out to be and like others said there are tons of successful female lawyers. And tbh I would've preferred if the video also had male lawyers in there, just to have a different viewpoint or answers to the question...

My grandpa was lawyer (there's an award made in his honor, actually), and he died when I was very young. However, I do remember him, and one of the long-standing impressions he left on me was to be compassionate. He was actually a proponent of lowering the cost of legal fees, believing they were too high. He would often take on cases in barter or labor when money was an issue. (He was able to install a modest pool in his backyard by taking cases of people willing to help him build it.) All in all, I've been lucky enough to see lawyers are humans too, with personalities and needs and beliefs beyond 'money', but I wonder what my view would have been if I hadn't been lucky enough to have a grandpa in the field. Media is a powerful thing, and you never hear about the lawyers doing pro bono, reduced cost, or other low cost practice because that news doesn't sell.

I think there is a really good reason why lawyers have that negative reputation. In my opinion really good lawyers probably tend to develop some sociopathic tendencies. I was in a fairly serious car crash and had to deal with a lawyer from a well known law firm that hired by the insurance company for a deposition. He said incredibly awful things to me, yelled at me and basically called me a liar. Afterwards he came up to me and said he believed me, that he thought I was a good person and hoped I got a good settlement and then shook my hand. It was like talking to two completely different people. I got the same feeling about my lawyer as well. I think these two lawyers are fairly new and would like to hear from them a few years from now when they get more experience.

I'm thinking of going to college as a pre-med major, (maybe it'll work out maybe it won't, I'll try to major in bio) If I don't like it I may switch to political science In the end I think it comes down to either the MCAT or the LSAT Whichever I do better in I'll choose careers from there There's a reason why over 60 percent of lawyers have a science major, because they wanted to be doctors

pre med is not a degree. you have to be in a major and then you are in a pre med concentration which helps you take the right classes which will prepare you to take the MCAT. coming from a bio major with a concentration in pre med lll

lol ol I'm taking pre-law next year and then law school but after watching these video my motivation went down to -0. I might as well be a humanatarian than lawyer

You could consider getting your md jd, there’s a couple of good programs across the country. It is going to be harder than you could ever imagine but worth it if you know that’s what you want in life.

I'm a paralegal and the math question is true. No one in our law firm does math. We outsource that task! 😆😆

In my country a lawyer is in fact a doctor in law you even get the Dr. (your last name) thingy and do get paid a lot, well, the system there is way easier so I can see that

문다연 pay varies greatly here depending on area of practice and years worked. She’s not in it for the money she’s literally helping people facing eviction, at the other end of the spectrum you have lawyers racking in millions.
@luciamun34126 жыл бұрын
justdecember yeah obviously she doesn't do it for the money but here I have yet to find an area in which you don't make a decent amount, even when you work for the state ( you get asigned cases of people who can't afford a lawyer bc obviously everyone has the right to be defended in trial) you get paid well. I'd like to think I know since my father works for one of the most important firms around and my my mother in law owns one, and I'm studying law, so is my bf. I respect them more bc they do it bc it's what they love and how they help others though, and sorry for my awful sleepy English

Also, neither of these two lawyers do trial work. Not that what they're saying is incorrect, just different lawyers will answer these questions differently depending on the type of law you practice.
