Addressing the comment below regarding the value of $50 in today's buying power, it reminds me of my first full-time job, which was in the summer between my first and second year of college. I worked at a nearby factory that made big vats and screws for food processing companies, and my eight hour job was to push a broom all day around the factory floor, cleaning up all the debris from the welding that took place. I made $1.50 an hour, which was $12 a day, or $60 a week. But I was living in a "granny unit" behind a small farmhouse out in the country and splitting the rent with a friend; my half was $37.50 per month, and my weekly food bill was about $12.50. I also did not have a car, just a bicycle. It's amazing what you can do with a small paycheck!

It was a different era. Did you notice how the men were standing to greet Ms. Bacall while the women remained seated? I am not saying that I am in favor of, or opposed to, these niceties. I just noticed that things are very different now.

@@keithklassen5320 Pheromones! I met the love of my life when I was 19, I was crazy about him. I loved the way he smelled when he was sweaty, but it was unique to him. He was very clean, showered or bathed every day, but I loved his natural scent at the end of the day. I wanted to tear his clothes off and I often did. I've never had that "chemistry" with another man, unfortunately. He died when I was 28, my heart never healed.
