The aqad niqah ceremony is not a Brunei custom. It is the Islamic rightful way of marrying Muslims witnessed and approved by both parties. The women will be married off by their father in front of the kadi (the person qualified to officiate aqad niqah). Someone commented that prince Mateen should be a playboy before marriage.
