Excellent review! I just assembled my machine. Now I no longer have to wait to make my own model rocket parts. Your attention to detail is much appreciated. Very clear explanation, good video. I've never even seen a 3D printer working in person so if I can locate the power button on mine this should be fun! All the best to you. You are a treasure.

Great video (I just bought a LONGER LK5 - and was happy to see ALL of the negatives (except the flush cutter) were addressed!)! Nice when a company listens to feedback. I am only on my second print (and 100 noob to 3d printing!) - but I had zero problems getting started. My biggest problem is trying to STOP!!! this thing is addicting! I already have 5 other things that I want to throw at it!!!

After watching your videos I decided to do the cable support and blower fan upgrades. Fun fact, after printing the cable support, I went to install it, and found....the cable support hidden there waiting for me to zip tie it to the cable 🤦🏻‍♂️. I also found a cable support that has a filament support that connects to the Z motor....in the "replacement parts" bag. The blower upgrade is a must though! Good call!!

I know that this review was quite some time ago, but I just got a Longer LK5 Pro and they've changed/upgraded the fan blower device on the nozzle. It now has a duct on each side blowing inward. I printed cali cat with no errors, even the underside of the tail was nice. So, it appears that Longer is listening and changing things to make their printer even better.

Heat is transferred through the bed screws and the springs. PLA will deform over time. Much quicker if you print filaments that require higher bed temps like PETG. And yes, I know from experience. Any mods to do with the bed, especially those that come into contact with the screws or the springs need to be made from the filament with highest bed temp you print with. Ideally even higher to ensure no deformation occurs. If you print PLA then you need PETG parts. If you print PETG then you need ABS parts. If you print ABS then you need nylon parts. Catch 22.

do you know if a creality spider v2 would be drop in replacement for this ? Or would the thermistor need to be modified? I haven't opened it up yet and this really is the only detailed vid about this one. Let me know if you remeber anything. I've heard the nozzle is glued in so i wonder if the thermistor or heater cart is too. I wish I can just swap out the thermistor and heater cart and fit them into the spider and screw it in without having to cut cables or stuff like that.

A Question, if you are still responding to this video: I am 100% a noob, have never used 3D modeling software and never owned a 3D printer but i'm looking for my first one. Is this printer suitable for a first timer, or is it more on the advanced side of things? And what are the printer's full dimensions? Not the print size (the 300x300x400), but the actual space the whole assembly takes up.

Indeed, I'm glad they listened to Bryan! I just got my printer built and the strain relief bracket comes pre-installed now. You do need to know it's there though because it does not show it in the instructions. You have to swing it out from under the bed and zip-tie it in place. There is a video on the SD card that shows what you need to do with it. I have not checked to see yet if they made the change to the ferrules though.

I do have a question about the cable going to the display since you have WAY more experience ... looking to find an extension cable so I can move it to the other side of the printer. I have no clue what type of connectors or gauge wire it is ... I'm guessing there must be something out there, or maybe a longer cable that will go all the way back to the main board ? I know this is a video that is nearly a year old, but is it possible to upgrade the nozzle from the stock, brass one, to a hardened steel nozzle for filaments that might contain abrasive materials? I assume that it is, but want to ask anyway. I've been trying to find a decent and cheap 3d printer with a fairly large build volume. I've had some experience printing with prusas, but since I'm now no longer a student at the university operating them, I'm kind of on my own trying to find one that's affordable. Do you also have any other recommendations for cheap, large volume 3d printers that I could look at? Thanks in advance!

I got this printer for 1 week now (Many thanks for the coupon code @BV3D) and i can say that the mentioned strain relief model you showed in the video for the print bed was included in the box!! So that was a nice surprise. Still got 1 or 2 issues still. Printing works without any issues, only the filament holder i am looking for a different solution because the angle from the filament spool/holder to the extruder is in my opinion way to sharp. And also the spool wobbles so much while the extruder is working (had even a broken filament because of that, in combination of the sharp angle ofc). The x,y and z stepper motors are really quiet but that said, the fan for the powersupply is very noisy. Not sure if that can be solved with something. But that said, i really like the printer, and ofc the print volume. Not done a tall print yet because of the filament spool holder, but when i find a solution i will print a big one.

I just did a search for "Automatic Wire Ferrule Crimper" and found this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/laeWmnyPhZedq7M I don't know how much it costs, but it seems like it would be a super easy thing to put on a production line. The production lines right now may (or may not) use an automatic wire stripper, but the person making the wiring harness has to dip the stripped wire in flux (maybe?) and then into a pot of molten solder. I think it would take just one company consistently using ferrules, *AND* including that fact in their advertising as a safety feature, and other companies would follow.

This video kinda stinks. I have this printer and many other printers. The longer printer is excellent for starters and anyone who wants more build volume. Its better than the creality printers and much better priced than prusa. And it works well with PLA and PETG and many more Filaments. I definitely recommend it to most users unless you would like to pay more and prusa would not be my go to . But flash forge is way better than most printer and has a great price. But anyways thus should get a better review when creality got a good one and they don't have a good reputation on safety. I had to change the board and everything else on my ender 5 pro to make it safe and less bed volume and it also had a know not touch screen and I paid $420 when it first came out. So this is a great printer and it should get better recognition.

Hi Manny! I'm sorry you didn't like the video. I pointed out a couple of times that the price of the printer is very good for the build volume you get. My final thoughts on it were positive; as I said, I like the printer. The only downsides to the printer were the parts cooling, the lack of ferrules on the heater bed wires, and the need for strain relief on the bed cables. Earlier today I printed a new fan shroud, it holds a 4010 fan to cool the heat sink and a 5015 blower with a semicircular duct for parts cooling. In installed that about four hours ago and it completely solved the parts cooling issue with the CaliCat tails. Sounds like yo have a lot more experience with the LK5 Pro than I do, so you've probably seen it. It's this one, on Thingiverse. www.thingiverse.com/thing:4131344 Thanks for watching, and sharing your thoughts! 👍

The review was completely fair, manufacturers need to stop silly practices like tinning wires in screw terminals etc If they sent Bryan a non production model without strain relief it's not his fault unless they explicitely let him know what's going into the production model.
