Bvdub - The Art Of Dying Alone
Bvdub is Brock Van Wey. Living and working in San Francisco and recently relocated to China, he has been djing since 1993 but only recently began to produce his own material. Despite this relatively short musical career, Bvdub has released material on Styrax Records, Quietus Records (his own imprint), Night Drive Music, its sub-label 2600 Records and Southern Outpost. Electronic in nature, his biggest musical influences are "beat-less ambient, deep techno, and a combination of the "IDM" of the late nineties, the modern-day direction of experimental-glitch ambient, and electro-acoustic.

Such a sad title. The title alone makes me feel unhappy. Listening to the music knowing the title makes me feel so desolate I could cry. No-one should die alone. But then, ultimately, we *are* all alone, aren't we.

G Dub I think you and I are on the same wavelength here. I believe that we all see the world from our own unique perspective and consequently, ultimately, although we may live, work and play side by side, we each and every one of us lives alone in our own world. And I believe that we are each and every one ruled to a large extent by our consciences; doing by deliberate design only what our consciences allow (I am excluding accidents) and forgiveness (that is meaningful to us) for transgressions can come from only within ourselves. We are each and every one of us the architect of our lives. It sometimes may not feel to be so but we always choose what to do (there is ALWAYS a choice; to act or not to act) and how to feel. Every single one of us is our own 'God' and we all have the power to make what we would like with our lives and to show love and respect to others. Perhaps one day, maybe when there are sufficient numbers of us with the same beliefs, a kind of communal 'mind' will form and then, perhaps, we shall no longer be truly alone.

JASPER ROCKLEY I agree with you, just let me make a little remark. We must ask ourselves what does it mean to "act"? Humans past, present and future is defined by (his/her) actions. (As you said) But I believe that we are never in full control of our actions. The way we act, define ourselves, is actually very instinctive. Yes you can plan your life ahead, but actions that define you are made spontaneously. Because of that we are trapped in our lifes forever. Everything you experience happiness, sadness, love, hate... It all goes and comes back without your control. You can not control your body. This is our blessing because it is given free to us, and our curse because it will be taken from us.

I believe art is measured by will, effort and emotion. In a way, dying alone is art. Willingly choosing a life of isolation, the effort of understanding no-one will mourn your death and the emotions caused by the lack of someone to share your future with. It is art. A very twisted and grim type of art.

New favourite artist goes to...........bvdub, thank you and good night. I'll have to download the full version of this song, I did the same thing on one of my uploads, the track is about 17mins long, and I stuffed 10minutes in there. I hear you can upload bigger videos when you get more upload views and or subscribers. Long pieces like this are my favourite, guess it all depends on the mind.
