The University of Kansas’ new Jayhawk Welcome Center serves as the launching point for campus visits for prospective students and their families. In the early planning stages of the project, it became obvious that students wanted the welcome center to encompass sustainability and innovative technology. The university partnered with Black & Veatch to integrate solar panels into the design, creating a 58 kW solar system with a 35 kWh battery storage system. This not only provides power but also collects data to enhance the visitor experience. The project has attracted passionate students and showcases the university's commitment to environmental solutions.
