Watched a wonderful video the other evening, filmed down south somewhere of a steam train puffing along a coastal track, it was one of the most cinematic shots of a steam train, against beautiful countryside and clearly way beyond any VLOS capability. VLOS in remote country areas shouldn't be relevant, in built up areas clearly more care is needed, it really is something the CAA should be relaxing for us rural folk.

I remember that video Robert. Too many uncertainties to make a positive identification of who was actually flying it. Whos to say the person flying the drone was actually a passenger on a quad bike, who has exceptional vision and although it was ten clicks from the home point, it was actually only a couple of hundred meters from the controller. I think it was all a wind up and it was never out of VLOS from the operator. Believe only half of what you see and none of what you hear. 😎

@@xjet it’s not about deaths it’s about the CAA(UK) getting stricter with the regulations. I personally think we should be allowed to use the screen. If a jumbo jet with 300 people on board can use technology to aid flying why carry a 250 gram drone do the same.

You are correct because the road trafic act or what ever it is has that specific instance written in to it with punishments for failing to comply. However this legislation does not ! the car owner is not responcable for an other drivers actions.

Let’s be totally honest here. 95% of all drone flights break VLOS rules. No one after 40-50m can see the orientation of the Drone FACT ! The get out of jail card is proving you cannot see the orientation of the drone. Technology can tell us this info so should be allowed to be used. I’ve reported so many drone violations to the CAA and in every case the CAA were not interested. Unless someone or something are injured or damaged or in some cases high profile flights they are not interested.
@johnburns5783Ай бұрын
@@smoggydrones5664 I can theoretically fly my mini 3 Pro 400m away from me and be 100% certain of its orientation at all times. I can then fly it back to me and still be 100% certain 😉😉😉😉 ( hint here,It would be a particularly boring flight there and back 😉😉)

I see said the blind man. I am a bit disappointed in my own gullibility, in that i usually start from a point of complete acceptance, only getting suspicious when obvious facts dont line up, or something raises suspicion. I've been thinking in terms of live flights; interactions with authorities during the flight itself, rather than later, via video "evidence" -in quotes for its unreliable nature. There was a drone pilot in Philadelphia breaking every rule in the book, got a $170k fine after FAA wrote him repeatedly about it. Its generally not helpful to narrate in real time the ways you are breaking regulations in real time. He eventually settled down, but is still too much of a joker for my taste. PhillyDroneLife

I think you may be liable on the basis that if you lend your car to someone and they go through speed cameras, you will get the ticket. If you say it wasn't you you have to provide the person who was driving the car's name and address failing to do so and you in court with the bill and that's in law unfortunately.
