This slide show is from our Fall 2011 canoe trip to the Boundary Waters. We entered at Moose River North and traveled to Iron Lake... also camping on Agnes and Nina Moose Lakes Lakes. Water levels were low but the Fall colors were at peak! This was one of our better trips for weather and fishing! Although I didn't take fishing gear this trip and concentrated on photography.
This Remake is now in 4K, has maps and I've also included images that I haven't shared before. In general, it should look much better than the original version.
There are more remakes in the works so please Subscribe and know when they are released :-)

Such marvelous photography! Congratulations! Brings back such fond memories! My two brothers, a friend, and I followed, like you, the Moose River route the first weekend in October - but, way back in 1978. I can't believe how much brighter and warmer your trip was at that particular time of the year. We actually camped the first night at what was very close to your campsite on "Little" Agnes Lake, where we shivered all night in our inadequate sleeping bags. Then, in the Spring of 1980, my two brothers and I followed the Grand Portage Route, from Lake Superior to Crane Lake - Thus, we followed your part of the route from Sunday Bay thru Lac La Croix. We are now 72, 76, and 80 respectively, and, like old voyageurs, long for those wonderful times of delighting in brotherly bonding; marveling at God's beautiful creation; and relaxing each night with shots of blackberry flavored brandy.

Tim, thanks for watching the video and sharing your very interesting story! My first trip was in 1978... amazing how things have changed... especially the gear. Not too many people can say they've done that Grand Portage Route ... my hat is off to you! I'm 'only' 66 and have done 46 trips, so pray that I am able to continue tripping for at least a few more years :-)

@@HamerNaturePhotos Wow! "46 trips." Good for you! ... and a prayer for you for many more! Our Grand Portage Route was actually four back-to-back trips, from Lake Superior to Lake Winnipeg - 632 miles in 23 days. Beginning with the second leg of the Route, we used my one brother's newly home-made sitka spruce three-man canoe - his one and only creation! The canoe, featuring low gunwales for faster speed, was swamped by high wind waves in Rainy Lake. Fortunately, we were close to shore, where we could dry out our gear. Your spectacular photos of beautiful Curtain Falls, in particular, really brought back fond memories of those adventurous days along Voyageur's Highway. So grateful to the Lord for those good times.

Thanks Jim! After the rain we've had the last 2 or 3 Fall trips, I'd forgotten how good the weather was for us in 2011 :-) Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas!

When I was but a young boy of 10 years of age. My newly adopted father took me north for a week long fishing trip to the lake country in Northern Quebec.....there for the 1st time in my life did I not only feel at home, but close to my Creator. Never did it leave me , and at 16 I ran away to attempt a return . A year later I was forced home ...a thousand miles away. After leaving the military...once again I returned and bought 80 acres just off Lake of the Woods....but my woman chose not to stay. Torn between building a home or family, I too left....Then again in ‘95 , I bought 22 acres with lake front property on Twin Lakes just outside the BWCA and west of my beloved Ely...Once again I relinquished it for family and marriage....returning each year for a week or two to either Ely, BWCA, Quetico or Algonquin .....Just to keep myself and dreams alive... Now at 62 , I can only dream and look up at the 3 canoes that hang within my barn. Next to the warm wood stove I watch your video, and smile through tears of home.....Thank you... I will treasure this one.

Thanks John we also like that route! That trip was the last few days of Sept and the first few days of Oct... that seems to be the best bet for peak fall color.
