That last night shot of 01 pulling out of Maitland is so well done even by Bevan Wall standards

For me another tragedy of 3830 was that she all to often played second best to 3801. She rarely seemed to take the spotlight on her own although it was good to see the two 38's together it was always 3801 that led and 3830 was relegated to being in the 'shafts'. On this tour it was great to see her performing on her own.

I would love to see 3830 run again as 3801 is stealing the spotlight lmao, in all seriousness 3830 is at the back of thirlmere dead and needs quite a lot of time to get back to running condition

It needs a new boiler and other work and hasn't ran since 2009 unfortunately.

Question without notice, weren't the 38ers designed to haul 550 tons Melbourne express, that was in regular service, why not in preserved service. This is a 32,35 or 36 class load. And excellent filming as per usual. Well done.

its decently steep through ardglen, id say steeper than what they were designed for when hauling 550 tons

Ardglen is a 1in40 and the ruling for a 38 on a 1in40 is 310t. They're running at about 280t there.

Depends on the 1 in 40 bank. On Cowan Bank it was 325 tons, on the 1in 40s south of Goulburn it was 350 tons but on Eastwood Bank and many others it was 375 tons. It often depended on curvature and length of the bank
