Most PS5 Users Don't Know This Wi-Fi Fix

This is the Fix to help PS5 5ghz Wi-Fi connection issues that some are having. By manually selecting the 5ghz Wi-Fi network it can ensure that you are on you're desired connection. Just remember that while it's faster, it doesn't have the same distance range at 2.4Ghz which can affect the speeds.

I recently installed full fibre and was only getting a small percentage of the speed that I could get and my PS5 was defaulting to 2.4ghz, I had no idea why and was putting up with this for a few weeks but not at all happy. I think it's worth pointing out that most users will be better off knowing how to set the wireless router (or wireless AP) to separate different bands on different SSID because the auto selection has the tendency to stick to 2.4Ghz since it's almost always the "safer" option.

Was trying to stream Resistance 3, and it was absolutely unplayable. Changed the setting to 5hz and it is running flawlessly. Forgot mine was on auto! Great, straight to the point video.

This transformed my wifi from actually unusable to perfectly smooth. Somewhere somehow my PS5 decided to switch from 5Ghz to 2.4Ghz and I actually couldn't do anything requiring a wifi connection (even auto-uploading captures to PS App). I didn't think to recheck this since this was a one and done type of thing and I didn't imagine my PS5 would switch back. Thank you so much.

Interesting. I'll have to try forced 5ghz since it's right next to my router and I have a ton of smart devices clogging up 2.4ghz. Though the only connection issues I've ever had are the constant LAN drops. Never found a reliable fix and getting kicked from multiplayer content sucks.

Theres gotta be something wrong with the hardware, the wifi is fine while having two ps4's, four phones, and two ipads on it. But one single ps5 cant even go seven seconds without spiking to 300 ping for five seconds at a time? On 5ghz 1 gigabyte speed? The ps5 is unplayable on wifi. Direct connection is the only option

I never had issues playing ps3/ps4 pro on wifi and Warzone ever with PS5 the wifi sucks Warzone lags and other games at times too it’s just trash ! Wifi on ps5 sucks and I hear they have 6ghz on ps5 but where and how do we connect to it ! I got the new router that’s supports wifi6 also.

Man I am honestly done I think my console is faulty. All of a sudden everything started lagging and online games are unplayable. I have tried everything, frequencies, lan cables, DNS servers and monthly dust cleaning. it’s not my internet because the internet on all my other devices is superb. I even pulled my ps4 out of the roof space to test the connection on it and everything works fine. I get like 24 ping on rocket league on my ps4 but on my PS5 it is literally unplayable along with any online games. Absolutely ridiculous. I didn’t pay as much as I did for a worse product than the PS4 so I’m am contacting Sony at this point. I hate to be like a male Karen calling Sony but I have exhausted all other options and I’m pissed.

Didn't fix the terrible wifi connection for me. I don't have any wifi issues with my ps4, works perfectly fine on it, but with my ps5 I am unable to play online, it lags like hell and kicks me constantly out of games. I wish I went with the Xbox, now I have a ps5 that I can not play with.

By pods you mean xfi pods? If so, the issue is because you have too many. I had the same issue with slow speeds or my device having trouble choosing which pod to connect to. You can't have the signals overlapping. I unplugged all but 1 pod and now everything is working as it should

Dude.. you’re the best! I was getting anywhere from 8- maybe 30ish download and 5-9 upload whenever I tested my connection. Even though I’m paying for 50down10up connection. After this I tested it back to back and it’s 57+ download and 11+ upload! Just like that! Amazing! I’m in the process of checking if my modem has that Min 1:36 automatic feature enabled or not.

This is good to know. ive only had my PS5 for a couple of months and recently i moved in with my dad at his ranch. Its a ranch in the middle of nowhere and i have not been able to connect online with the PS5 unless i have it in the living room. I have a series X and the wifi works at long distance. Good info. When I stopped using cable television I had the cable company move my router to the living room and tune my service for internet only. I also moved the router there so I could hard wire the PS5s. I did separate 2.4g and 5g so I could make sure portable devices could be set to 5g when possible.

5ghz is much more reliable and consistent. Never would use 2.4ghz. Even with bad reception 5ghz works better most of the time.

Its not, its more susceptible to interference, it doesnt have anywhere near the same range, its faster sure, assuming your close to your router but unless your are transferring huge files youd never notice. Because of its shorter wave form it struggles with even the thinnest walls degrading the signal so much it suffers from drop outs and massive variations in speed. The best thing you can do with 5ghz signal on any router is turn it off

@@pullmeifinger Actually interference is much more of an issues on the 2.4 GHz band. 2.4 GHz has better range and that is about the only benefit it offers. Stability is much better on the 5 GHz band.
