The Concerto for two harpsichords and strings in C major, BWV 1061, was probably composed during Bach’s years in Cöthen (1718-23) as a duo for two harpsichords, without any ripieno strings in its two outer movements. This earlier version of the work explains why in the Concerto the musical dialogue is almost entirely confined to the two soloists, whereas the orchestral accompaniment serves mainly to reinforce the formal scheme and to highlight the thematic relationships.

I love the fuga. Such a clever use of material, something very few would think of doing.

c' est le meilleur mouvement. très bien construit avec des passages qui donnent des frissons quand les violons arrivent et la basse. Bach mon préféré.

Incredible fugue. Concentrated on following the theme so intently im now dizzy

The subject is practically a mini piece. That's all Bach needs material wise, besides a little extra for the episodes.

I had the privilege of hearing this performed live by the harpsichord duo Zweikampf a few months ago at a Phoenix Early Music Society concert. What a pleasure that was! Thanks for bringing this to us.

Wonderful. Trevor pinnock never fails to please. I saw him perform the Brandenburgs at UCLA some years ago. Fantastic. As always, you've done a spectacular job with the scrolling! Thanks for doing this for us music lovers!

A few months ago I was asked to play this at a concert. I knew I had no time to practice, and I knew this would be the hardest piece of music I had ever played. The concert day is close, and I'm screwed.

@@SteveofArms Pretty well, actually. Aside from the fact that the guy who turned my pages told me afterwords that he counted 57 mistakes.

If I was in a deserted island I would take the complete works of J.S.Bach, A.Webern and Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart. I need nothing else than the divine music of bach, the minimalism of webern and the craziness of captain beefheart. You?

Nice Webern and fascinating Captain Beefheart. Anyway Bach, Schonberg and Gibbons

Le mouvement 3 me rappelle la musique composée pour le film "Big" , mais je suppose que son auteur s est inspiré d une autre œuvre de Bach , encore plus proche de son résultat final. Mes remerciements à qui pourra me dire laquelle .

All of the instruments (even each harpsichord one at a time) perform disappearing acts, especially the orchestra in the 2nd movement.
