Just saw a short clip of Jeff acting as Leonard instead of Alan. It was unwatchable after seeing Alan, really. In direct contrast you can really see the infinitely big difference between those two actors. Alan is just perfect in his acting!! Haven't seen anyone like him. Sleep peacefully, Alan. I don't have easy access to stage plays and always had this in the back of my mind as The One Show I'd pick to see if given the chance. When Rickman died, the honest first thing on my mind was "Fuck. So much for Seminar." At least he gave the people who did see him something to talk about and remember. RIP, Alan.

Sorry to interrupt but ... acting is not only a way to act as someone completely different but also a way to find different parts of your personality that otherwise would not have been revealed. Alan Rickman has played a multitude of different characters with different background stories. Just because he plays the role so well doesn't mean he's acting as himself.Wow that really let off some steam. I need SKITTLES!!!

What role?... Unless the role is Alan Rickman, no. And you're right to an extent. You have to find yourself in characters. That doesn't mean be the exact same one (yourself) regardless of the way the character reads. Some actors can make careers off this. I don't want to, myself.
