I bought a 911 20 years ago , i owned it for 4 days and sold it . I'd already owned a few 928's , so i was spoilt by 928's with its 50/50 weight and a V8 . I still have a 928SE from back then . Its a 5 speed dog leg manual and Porsche only made 42 of them . Exceptional cars , much better than that Beetle Sport 🤣

Congratulations on the awesome car. If it’s from Japan and looks similar to an RWB, it’s probably a Sunburst Body Kit. They are lesser known than RWB, however also build wide bodied air-cooled Porsches. You have an amazing base to build one of your best cars yet!

I'm a very long time subscriber and I build and maintain air cooled porsches. I have my own little shop mainly working on them. The best thing you can do with that car is just make it your own and be yourself in it. You'd be surprised as I have been on how cool a lot of air cooled owners actually can be. Lowering the car and putting a 911 specific alignment in it will absolutely transform it!

The rotated Tach is usually due to the driver wanting the shift point rpm to be vertical and an easy visual cue. Congrats Jim, Air cooled 964 is one of my dream cars. the sound the doors make when you close them is a work of art.

Congrats on being a 964 owner! We've got a few within the family! I am pretty damn sure the arches are Sunburst, the front lip is definitely from a GT2 and the side skirts could also be made to look like a GT2. There was a few custom bits from the racing days that teams would use with their body kits, could just be some really old OEM skirts modified to fit flush! I love them and cant wait to see what route you take the car down! Edit: Also, you'll soon come to realise porsche tombstone seats are one of the comfiest seats ever created haha! Plus, as its like a VW Beetle its a dream to work on the engines!

Congrats on a purchase! 964's aren't my cup of tea necessarily, I prefer g-body and 993 over 964, but any air-cooled 911 is awesome! Regarding that kit, it looks very similar to a GT2 kit that 993 came with, as if someone actually adapted it to the 964. Also, those aren't Work Meister s1's, these are SSR Professor SP1's. Very similar design but faces go over the lips, rather than inside the barrel like Meisters.

Beyond stoked. IMHO don't touch it until you take it to a frame shop with Brian. Then you guys should restore it as much as possible. Slow burn but it will turn out to be that much more of a car. I love a rwb style Porsche. I someday will own one I home. Definitely a bucket list car. You guys do your thing and be patient. Restore it as much as you can. You have a few body guys.
