By law, you need lights on your bike. Using them is common sense.

Even the drivers that aren't impaired, or on their phones, or speeding may still have a hard time spotting you riding your bike in the dark. Wearing dark clothes and not using lights isn't punk rock - it's a death wish.
Light up. Put a reflective jacket on. Leave no reason for someone to hit you with their car or truck.
