It’s not that the old dining room chairs were that bad, they just gave off a seventies vibe that didn’t work with the rest of the room. I love the new ones a lot!❤❤

I agree I would never have thought anyone would comment on disliking the chairs. The new ones do work better in the room. It's also good that you have a couple of chairs with arms for anyone with mobility issues. You could still recover the other chairs someday

Molly has my heart as she looks at both Amoury and Natie with so much love. There is also determination that she will not be left at the chateau by them if she can help it. Bless her. The work on the chapel is fascinating watching how they do the repairs. I know very basic building things but not how to make a vault. I’m going to keep my eyes peeled as I will learn something new. Lancelot still has a place in my heart. I read up on a Prague Ratter and I believe he is an exception but in the best way possible. I didn’t occur to complain out the chairs in the dinning room however they transcend the dinning room to a grand elegance with the curtains. I’m pleased to see Gerry and Michael again. They look to have an abundance of good health. I can taste the meringue pie already and I’m salivating at the thought. Lucky Gerry. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. Thank you. Love terriers! I have had several breeds of dogs. But the terriers have such personalities!!! In the US we have toy fox terrier and the rat terriers. Several types of Rat terriers. Some are larger and coat variation. They all have "prey drive". Lancelot is a dear heart and still a puppy. Stephanie and Phillip are doing a wonderful job with him!!! He and dear faithful Molly bring so much to the lives of those at the chateau!

My request is for someone to paint the kitchen pantry cupboard. I know you will be doing the kitchen later but please please please someone just give the cupboard doors a fresh coat of paint 🙏. I promise it will make a lot of difference. They just look so dirty. Love the daily updates on the chapel progress. Really interesting to see how they go about restoring the vaulted ceiling.

It has never felt like my place to criticize the old dining room chairs. But wow! The new chairs tie everything together so beautifully. Well done, Phillip! They are transformative. Steph is absolutely right - the room now looks like a proper chateau dining room. Bravo! Deeply appreciate all we're being able to see of the chapel ceiling. The colors, the patterns, the stars. And then there are the columns and statues. The Chapel is going to be an absolute jewel box when the restoration is complete, one that will be valued for generations.

the ceiling.. the blue with the gold stars, are exactly as I recall, from avery small child visitng y Grannie in Irleand, on the ceiling of her local RC chapel. Sadly, in the 1970s it being in much need of repair it was ripped down entirely.. and a new chapel built. I remember being aged just 4 or 5 at the most and transfixed by the ceiling. I asked my Father if it was heaven. He said it was. lol.

@@mariahoulihan9483 Unfortunately, we're losing stunning 19th century painted chapel interiors all across France, and no doubt elsewhere. Steph's efforts to restore Lalande's chapel, and what we can do to help, is far more important than I originally realized. I'm so sorry your old chapel in Ireland was torn down. Most communities, especially small ones, can not afford the restoration costs. Find myself wondering just how many chapels like Lalande's are left. How many beautiful 19th century interiors have already been lost?

They gave your dining room a fun and funky patchwork vibe which was so much more homy. This is a sad changing of the guard and dare I say it but a bowing to the lowest common denominator. “Popular opinion” is NEVER the chicest choice. Decorating should always be about one’s personal likes and desires and never what “the authorities” say is right. I love you guys and have been a fan for years. Those chairs shall be sadly missed and I’m sure you’ll be hearing about it for years from returning guests.

$3,700 is an absolute bargain for Stephanie and Phillip's chairs! They have a real skill at purchasing. ❤❤❤ The tile floor now seems a bit harsh for these exquisite chairs. I didn't love the old chairs, but I didn't hate them either. I'm glad that you didn't send them to the resale shop before first offering them up to some new châtetains. I adore the new chairs, but I actually liked the old chairs too! They were very 1960's Hollywood Regency. I inherited some cane-backed barrel occasional chairs that had the same upholstery fabric and I loved them. The green velvet chairs and their shape/style are definitely more elegant and 18th Century appropriate. Enjoy!❤❤❤

I did like the old dining room chairs....found them to be quintessentially French. However once the new green velvet ones are set up am sure they will be lovely.
