There is no forgiveness for sin except through the shedding of blood. Blood was shed on the cross by Jesus to atone for man's sins. Only when you see yourself at the foot of the cross, unworthy, can you accept such love. The cross is an abomination until you see yourself there with someone dying in your place. Then, you'll never be the same again.

Jesus came to die for our sins. by the way of the cross means that if Jesus didn't die for our sins, we'd be totally hopeless and lost. without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.

Sadly some of the sauentiments in this 'beautiful song' is not Biblically sound. When someone dies they do not go directly to Heaven. According to the Bible they go to the grave until the resurrection at the Second Coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself was in the grave for three days. If He had gone to Heaven He would not have said to Mary "I have not yet ascended to my Father" (John 20:17) [Another supporting ref in Matthew 27:52] That said, this message in the song is true...our salvation and redemption is only by the way of the Cross and the shed blood our Jesus (Hallelujah) and this will be our song of overcoming!
