Saw him play against UNC last year, absolutely insane player. Smallest player on the court by at least 6 inches and somehow had the biggest impact. Been a fan of the guy ever since.

5'7 Damian Lillard. Quick hop footwork on the shots, pick and roll IQ, speed changes, off arm, finishing especially with the same foot same hand, arm band on the right arm. Doesn't really do the pound dribble tho.
@user-zj1cz9fc6u4 жыл бұрын
Lykes is super athletic! His bounce is well above 45 inches. Not saying that’s everything, but it definitely helps out a lot. His wing span is above average for his height, plus he can also palm the ball. Lykes is built to be one of the better smaller players out there, if not the best.

something that I really love about him especially as a small guard (5'5) myself is how fast he plays, he constantly forces the defense to try and predict what he's going to do. Its also really interesting because it looks like he reads the defenses direction the second they start moving and then he counters.

I hope Chris makes it to the league 🙏🏼
@davidhall44014 жыл бұрын
I have been using this same off arm move as him to get to the cup. Most people think you can only use this stuff in the NBA, but it's being taught at all levels. And most players should have this in their arsenal because no one can just speed by opponents every time without being bumped. If you put your off arm into the defender's mid section it negates his ability to get back into the play. Always make contact with the defender first because it will knock him off balance, giving you a better chance to score. Whoever initiates contacts first wins the battle.
@aaronpetch79364 жыл бұрын
you should do one on Kihei Clark! He’s one of the best ACC guards who does all the right things for his team despite a small frame like Chris’

Box out, swim moves (my favourite is on a free throw where right after they shoot it, I fake it one way and go the other), looking and knowing the shots and where they are likely to land (if you shoot left wing, if it's short, it's gonna be to the left, long will be to the right)(most of the time, there are times it will throw you off), tap outs can be a useful one (like Tyson Chandler), quick explosive jumps are helpful, and if you're shorter, get a running start if possible, but also note that is way better for offensive boards since some defenders will just naturally turn to look where the ball is and not put a body on a player). That's the most I got for boards. Hope it helps.

Most short guys who play at this level has no problem with their offence. It's their defense makes them go undrafted
@johndavis93214 жыл бұрын
That’s a fact
@jontemccants4 жыл бұрын
In the same sense most tall players have a hard time guarding short players. Look at Trae Young, Kemba Walker, Dame Lillard... hell even Chris Paul. Yes these guys are taller than Chris Lykes but compared to the other guards in the league their short. Btw just because google say somebody height is 6’3 or so doesn’t mean that is true because they said KD was 6’10 at one time which is the same height as Demarcus Cousins but standing next to him it’s obvious that KD is 7’0.
@driftslidecrashmoney4 жыл бұрын
@@jontemccants maybe its cause Cousins lies about his height as well. His actually 6'9. Most USA players lie about Height. not sure why.

The NBA lowkey need to bring Jeremy Lin back. How is Calderon still in the league compare to Lin? Lol
@joestuehmer79674 жыл бұрын
Lin is overrated he literally only had like a 2-3 week Star level run that is overhyped.. As soon as he left the Hawks last year Trae Young started to average 25/9 a game he clearly was holding Trae back. If he ever gets to the league he shouldn't play more than 10 mins a game

People don’t get that in basketball,sure,height is a factor. But it’s not about the body,but the spirit. A tall and strong spirit in a small body it just as large,if not larger. I’ve played 6’6 and up players that have not skill or athleticism;Can’t dunk. Because they don’t know how to use their size. I’m just shy of 6’2,but was mentally trained to play shorter before I started growing,so I still have the mindset of dribbling lower to the ground. Like mentioned in video,that’s harder for people to guard. Especially if you’re quick.
