Great video, thanks Sky, always a lovely watch. Love seeing all the Australian scenery as well, and all the locations. Makes me sad to see how South Africa could be if it were run better. So much of the environment looks identical between us... guess this is why Australia is also filled up with us ;P
@SkyPerspective5 ай бұрын
Haha, I might have over shine the Australia Scenery. I took a lot of clips and only used the best of the best, so we might be watching this video through rose-coloured glasses. I have not been to South Africa beaches, but they look nice too from the internet photos. Anyway, very happy that many of you are enjoying my videos. That's all that matters to me.

I don't understand why people need to hog the chargers and charge to 100% at a fast charger, the time it takes from 80 to 100% is as long as 10 to 80% - these chargers are not to be used to sit around for 50 minutes and charge to 100% - what happens if someone else needed to charge 5 minutes after you went to eat lunch and someone needed to charge and didn't have the extra kms / range to find another charger...
@SkyPerspective5 ай бұрын
Yes that's true. Good to always check there is no one waiting before letting it charge to 100%. Would be even nicer if the app allows us to have a digital queue.

My Seal RWD real range with AC in 30 - 35 degree is ovwe 500 km. 20% highway with 130 km/h, the other is 90-100 km/h in main roads. Usually I do not charge with dc over 20%..SOC.. If no highway 550 is possible. I use it in my daily business..

Hi @100Funney, thanks for giving me this idea. Yes maybe it's time for me to make my Asus Zenbook after-3-years video. I didn't really do much maintenance to the hinge mechanism. I only vacuum the keyboard and the gap underneath the second screen, and then wipe down the whole laptop.

Hi @Sky Perspective, I had a question, I'm planning to get the byd premium but I stay in a share house and do not want to purchase a home charging kit as i will move out soon. I was looking if you know if it is possible to charge the car on 2.4kW 3 pin charger? If so, how much is the charging time?
@SkyPerspective4 ай бұрын
I would suggest you go to DC fast charger charging station. Charging using 3 pin 2.4kW takes about 11hours to charge about 30%, and this is for my dynamic model. Premium has a bigger battery so might take even longer to charge.

Apologies, I don't mean to ignore the other half. I am just unfamiliar with the rest of Australia and didn't want to give any false information on EV charging stations availability. If you have any information on the other half of the country, please feel free to share with all of us. Thanks.

If you're on the east coast driving for Rockhampton to Adelaide via Melbourne is quite safe. If you live over WA you're stuck pretty much in Perth & south west corner. So Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra & Adelaide are the current stress free driving routes.

I might have missed it, but was the impact of changing regen back to standard?
@SkyPerspective5 ай бұрын
What I observed is Regen High or Standard doesn't make much difference for highway driving. We cover slightly more distance with Regen High when it comes to peak hour city driving. Peak hour city Driving Regen High, 50%, 182km Regen Standard, 50%, 170km

Do you think your byd would do 380k's at 110kph on the freeway?
@SkyPerspective2 ай бұрын
Possibly, and you might need to push it down to 10%. Driving hilly roads in metro areas everyday I can still get 300k from 100% down to 30%. So, it should theoretically do 380k easily on the freeway down to 10% and if you set it to eco mode.

The Seal seems to have subpar efficiency. I know hills aren’t necessarily the ideal terrain for efficient driving, but that still seems like very high consumption.
@SkyPerspective5 ай бұрын
It is what is it. Note that my Seal is the base model with the lowest range. I suspect the Premium model will have much better range and efficiency.
@michaelchilds33055 ай бұрын
@@SkyPerspective the BYD premium will have better range due to much bigger battery, but wouldn't the efficiency be better in the dynamic as it's weight is lower, and has the more efficient 16inch tyres?

Please don't use public chargers to charge to 100% unless absolutely necessary, which it clearly wasn't any either case in your video. You are unnecessarily holding up other EV drivers. You don't know that people haven't checked the app and seen that chargers are occupied so move on to another.
@SkyPerspective5 ай бұрын
Oh I see. Thanks for your tip. If only the app allows us to see who is queuing up next.
@josh40475 ай бұрын
@SkyPerspective yes, the apps all desperately need a digital queueing system. Frustrating as it is not hard to implement from a software perspective.
@waynerm0024 ай бұрын
For normal everyday driving, no more than 80% is needed and you can recharge in a few days once you get to around 25%. If you have a lot of fast chargers on your long distance trip, most likely you won’t need to go to 100% either, to get to the next station. My Audi etron had a range of 222 but, realistically 186 at highway speeds of 80+MPH. Driving from Arizona to California, required 2 stops but, I put in a 3rd as some section had high elevation and the first time I went, I was low on charge on the hill climb but made it up on the downhill section. I tended to give myself a 5% extra charge buffer from what the car recommended. Not fun to run out of juice in the desert with civilization miles away.

I don't have a home charger nor the ability to install one (renting) so unfortunately for you I will be charging to 100 when I get my seal, idk why EV drivers are so entitled, I've sat behind cars filling up that go into the service station and potter around for 30+ mins, wait your turn
