OK, I'm sure some folks will argue with me, but that is another tenor valve trombone. Just like a "bass trumpet" is really a tenor valve trombone, and a "trombonium" is another one.

@@jerbear7952Not gonna lie, I've never been into the baritone. It's not a bright and focused as a valve trombone/bass trumpet, it's not as warm and rich as the euphonium... personally it's my last pick for a valved low brass instrument

@@TracksWithDaxThe baritone is from what's known as the 'three-quarter tube' brass family. The cornet is the soprano member of that family (I don't know what is the contrabass member, if any). They fall in between the mostly-cylindrical (till the bell flare) 'half-tube' family, including the trumpet (bass trumpet, trombone etc and I guess the cimbasso), and the mostly-conical (except for the lead pipe) 'whole-tube' family, including the flugelhorn (euphonium, tuba etc). I personally think it's nice there are these three 'families' of brass timbre to make tonal variety.

Yes, satin silver. I think the valve block was from a marching baritone.

Tell that to my dad who plays valve trombone professionally and has recorded it (along with regular slide trombone and trumpet and cornet). Also, Juan Tizol with the Duke Ellington Orchestra was a great valve trombone player.
