Explained: Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA).

The DTAA, or Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement is a tax treaty signed between India and another country ( or any two/multiple countries) so that taxpayers can avoid paying double taxes on their income earned from the source country as well as the residence country. At present, India has double tax avoidance treaties with more than 80 countries around the world.

India and China In November signed a protocol to amend the existing Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) between the two countries.
This protocol among, other things, updates the existing provisions for the exchange of information to the latest international standards.

DTAA's are intended to make a country an attractive investment destination by providing relief on dual taxation. Such relief is provided by exempting income earned abroad from tax in the resident country or providing credit to the extent taxes have already been paid abroad.

Helpful Video. I think DTAA also works for Indian KZbinrs earning US Income in India. Indian KZbinrs have to pay 15% tax for US Earnings (it gets deducted by Google from monthly income). So, I guess they don't need to pay tax in India for the same US earnings because they have already paid it every month (which gets deducted by Google every month).
