I took a weekend trip to Krakow in October of 2019 when I was studying abroad and it is still to this day my favorite city that I have ever visited. Thank you for putting out this video! It was really nice to see all the same places and streets again

Thanks Kaja cannot believe the timing of this video! I just started my new job this week and many of my colleagues are in Poland, my manager actually lives in Krakow! He guessed a Chinese won't know of the place and said 'it is a small town I won't find on a map'. What a humble man. BTW I didn't have much time to watch youtube videos so didn't know your book! Just bought one on Amazon!

Nice! I was born and bred in Krakow, travelled quite a bit, and have this to say: the place has all it takes to live an exciting and meaningful life or just spend a nice couple of days walking, eating out and, last but not least, finding inspiration. Indeed, I moved away like 15 years ago as I think the only category of people who may stand to gain by living elsewhere is couples with young kids: there is this heavy traffic in places, the air used to be bad (now the city has gone green and banned coal-burning stoves, a big game changer) and it is getting built up, plus the notorious football rivalry. By comparison to Warsaw, salaries used to be lower and the ratio of the huge number of educated people (a big majority of adults are HE graduates) to good jobs used to be discouraging. Now this too has changed for the better and apparently you can have better earnings than in Warsaw (real estate is more expensive, too, though). You have nicely captured the atmosphere, created by all those old buildings. I mean you benefit being surrounded by art and have this sense of historical depth to contemplate the meaning of life, your sense of belonging, slow down and possibly get spiritual. Of the things worth seeing, I'd add the 14th C Main College of the University, where Copernicus studied, the subterranean museum in the market square, archeological museum (fits in with the surroundings, many of which romanesque) and the inside of the castle hill. I mean Tripadvisor or the like will do the thinking for you, but outside of the old centre there is this nice walking trail to the memorial mounds of Kosciuszko and Pilsudski, with their nice panoramas and a zoo, the Skałki Twardowskiego park with some jurassic formations and a clean lake, both just a few tram stops from the castle. For more trekking or just atmospheric walking, choose from all these valleys (google 'dolinki podkrakowskie') to the N and NW of the city, the Niepołomice castle to the E with its occasional mediaeval music and dance events, the Tyniec abbey's nice views and a kayaking port to the SW, with Wieliczka salt mine and and Energylandia theme park not that fara away (SE and W respectively). If one wants a taste of Communist era construction and town planning, the centre of Nowa Huta (the Eastern district) will give you a clue. Plus Catholics will have soo many pilgrimage sites.
