Allen Lai you're sure about that? Several people say that they give preference to white English language teachers even if English is not their first language. Like people from Eastern Europe with accents. Even some Chinese people admit that as heard in the video below. 'Vlog | English teachers in China, Yay or Nay?' kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpDYkKyAls5nbrM

@bludgeonedrecords34896 жыл бұрын
This is not true. I lived in China for 11 years, and have on many occasions heard racial slurs against people with darker skin, even some being described as “dirty ” or “scary” and even “un-evolved” the Chinese in fact see themselves as racially superior to others. This mindset has pervaded their cultural identity from the beginning and still exists today. It ok to be this way, but lying about it is disingenuous to “brown” people who might happen to go there only to find out they are looked down upon and denied job opportunities based on skin color.

You're using the word 'weird' in a culture that is different to yours. Come on, they have the right to call you out on it. It has a negative connotation, you should know that! The word weird means strange, abnormal or unusual etc. That simply isn't the best word to highlight things in a culture that is different to yours.

I live in shenzhen currently and have experienced a change in the locals attitude towards foreigners. Before people were friendly and open, suddenly Chinese are cold and unwelcoming. I was halfway across a zebra crossing and a woman deliberately drove towards me and slammed her brakes to give me the filthiest looks. I am not sure if it's something to do with China's political or economical situation or technology, sometimes i wonder what propaganda their local news and government feed them because the change in their attitude is drastic. I am not the only foreigner that has experienced this.

China is like over 90% safe but still, you need to be watching out for yourself. No place in the world is 100% safe. it's perfectly fine that you've found the stuff, whatever it is, 'weird', and you've said in the video that it is 'weird' in a positive way. Don't be affected by those hater comments in this regard. However, it is understandable why those Chinese netizens 'overreacted' to that. Since we are constantly being bashed and scolded in terms of almost every aspect of our life that differs from that of western societies such as social norms, political system, and cultural heritage. So, they are basically sick of the ignorant and arrogant narrative that pervades all western media and that's exactly why your 'weird' claim just pissed them off. We are not irrational people. It's just that we have been stigmatized for so long and we are trying to defend ourselves against the stereotypical accusations that have lasted for decades, with the rise of China. There's nothing wrong about what you said, but beware of the inner rationale that motivates those hater comments and you'll eventually end up learning more about China and Chinese people. Anyway, wish you a great time in China.

I'm sure everyone is aware that you shouldn't just bring your own speaker to a coffee shop, what would happened if everyone started doing that? and how could I ignore him if we could barely talk to each other because he was playing his music so loud, and when we looked at him he would just turn the volume up, so he was doing that on purpose, disturbing not only us but all the other people around him

As a Chinese,I think 99% of the people in China are very friendly. 😄But even those hater only 1%,😳 that is a huge number too.No one can win the love of the whole world. Confident people tend to think themself deserve to be loved by everyone, but when we grow up, we will find that there are always people against you, or hate you. Of course it may not be more of a problem for us here, but some people are born jealous or hate others, and there seems to be no reason, or those people can not tolerate others.So, try to be as happy as possible every day. There is a Chinese saying, "do not punish yourself with others' mistakes". Finally,I want say we like you.😎🤗

I'm sorry. More smiling or laughter still can't save all the sarcasm and negativity. I try to be "open-minded" - It's good enough for a white girl. But still, try to judge the big world from her small little world, like the others. I know it's all your natural reaction. I also know you Choose to put on these parts of your dislikes. Actually, all foreigners(different races) look standout in a local neighbor, especially loud and recording people in their faces, Aren't they supported to look?? You don't like being recorded, do they? "Chrinese"people also got stared, weird look and giggling A Lot in the western countries. So don't be too self-conscious. "I'm not judging :) haha" (really western girls have So Much fun or "friendship" talking sh t about others, giggling giggling , Not Judging~) I don't hate you btw~ I like you..because.... you are doing well for a foreigner :) Expecting a newly arrived foreigner not judge from their world of assumptions or mindset is asking too much :)
