Watch Byomkesh Bakshi's episode-27 'Paheli Gatha'. Byomkesh Bakshi is a fictional detective in Bengali literature created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. He is one of the most successful and popular characters in Bengali literature.
Doordarshan now brings to you the entire series of this literary classic which was televised back in 1993 directed by the brilliant Basu Chatterjee. Actor Rajit Kapur played the role of Byomkesh Bakshi, for which he was highly praised. Ajit was played by K.K. Raina and Satyaboti was played by Sukanya Kulkarni who was the first actress to play the character.

The real hero for anything Byomkesh is his creator Saradindu Bandopadhyay. The themes handled in his detective stories is no less cerebral than celebrated Western Detective writers - and yes, that includes Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie's characters Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot. Not to speak of any Indian detective writers - did we have any those days?? Just think of concepts like AgniBaan and Gramaphone Pin in a Bicycle Bell - so simple yet so unique. Saradindu wrote short stories, historical as well as social novels, poems, songs, essays, and stage plays. In his later years he started living in Pune, Maharastra for almost more than 10-15 years and started writing Bollywood movie screen plays. He also wrote several screen plays, some of which were based on his other writings. Some notable old Hindi Movies include Durga (1939), Kangan (1939), Navjeevan (1939), Azad (1940). He started writining Byomkesh stories while he was living out of a Mess house in Harrison Road in old Calcutta, so the backdrop of many of his stories is a Mess House. And remember the Mess House Owner was casted as a murderer is many of his stories - no wonder he had sour relations with his Mess Owner. Like many writers he traveled himself between the characters he created - sometimes in Byomkesh and mostly in Ajit. Like him Ajit is also a writer. So guys please think twice while bashing Ajit in your comments - it is just that what he should be doing.

I only remembered bhoot episode when i was kid watching byomkesh bakshi (Satyanveshi) in 90's. And rem about that episode. Now in lock down, I watched all the episodes. And in those days, I mean in 90's there used to be 2 episodes to find out who was the culprit and need to wait for second episode to find the culprit. What a serial yaar.
