I've done hardwood refinishing for 25 yrs I will tell ya this. These guys do it the correct way taping up the doors plastic over cabinets another thing you must do during sanding is turn off your furnace you wanna keep air from circulating during sanding only. You must have a little air moving during the staining an coating to help with drying. Great job guys! I like using a Hummel but I've used the American or Clark they all work rather well. God bless yall!!

*** WARNING ‼️ *** When you start or come to a stop with the machine always pull up because if you do not keep it rolling and pull up at the same time, it will dig trenches in the floor and when you stain and then polyurethane the floors you will see trenches throughout the whole floor And you will have to start all over again heavy grit like 36 !!! I know that happened with my first floor. By the way, this is one of the best videos I have seen so far dealing with the hardwood floor , thank you.

The only thing you forgot to mention (which is quite important to newbies of Bona Traffic HD) is once you add the catalyst to Traffic HD you must use all of if within 4 hours. Because you never mention you're using a 2nd gallon container the next day the possibility of thinking the remainder of the 1st was still good the next day is quite high.

I used this video as a general guide for 500sq ft of 60 year old white oak, and they turned out nearly perfect, I love the Bona finish. I found a 3x21 hand belt sander followed by a 5" random orbital to be easier for the edges than the big edge sander. Fill in cracked wood and nail holes with filler but leave the gaps between boards as they are so your floors can shift with temp and humidity. Use Diablo sandpaper if you can find it, we only used 2-4 of each grit.

I have been doing hardwood floor refinishing for over 30 and you should have purple padded your first coat . This would have lowered the grains caused by the sealer coat and than appled the next coat. Overall you did a good job but there was a lot of overwork that wasn't required. As you apply each coat the amount of finished you use is decreased so if you are using traffic coat it's good to figure out how much product you will need. . This will save you money. .i personally don't like to roll but use a 18" applicator .

I would not recommend crossing it with the drum sander. I would have gone with the 36, 80, 100, I think crossing really sracthes the floor, even more then a 36 grit. Also I would edge with 60 then 100 then the orbital with 100 grit. You will save some time. :) I would also recommend to cut edges with the finish as you go, cut in chunks because if you cut it all at once you will leave sealer marks. Same with the finish cut as you go.
@pound65993 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on not going against the grain. He could have gone at a 45-degree angle. But going from 36-grit to 80-grit is a stretch. You skip 40, 50, and 60; 36 to 50 or 60 is better.
@donovanramirez11203 жыл бұрын
To Many cuts. If your going with a natural floor (no stain), no need to do as many cuts. We do with the big machine 40 grit than 100grit when we sand natural floors. Usually what it comes down to is how good at buffing you are.
