Finally got Awesome and logical video about use of diode in solar panel.. Thanks for sharing other youtubers are just throwing shit about diode without any logical explanation. They are saying diodes are only for show off to increase prices.

Can you please explain why there's no current through the bypass diode unless shading blocks the path rough the solar cells? If the current can find an alternate route through the bypass diode, why does it only work during shading on the solar cells?

​@@TechSimulator i disagree, they are the same, its just that the configuration that makes it a bypass or a blocking... Depends hoe you connect it. But blocking and bypass diode are the same diode.

.....the panels get very hot , the heat may stress the diodes . My panel one diode has failed and become a short . Panel works again after snipping a lead of diode. So I guess if it works I can keep using it without one diode .

Why do we divide the solar panels in only one dimension? I mean, what if the shade occurs on the edge but on the 3 cells at the same time?

Could there be a situation where cell strings develop internal resistance to current flow, but still contribute terminal voltage, such that the panel shows full Voc but less than 20% Isc? I have this problem with a premium brand panel.

I need help I bad connected the -ve of the panel to the +ve of battery same as the +ve of panel to -ve of battery I got a spark after I checked the panel it stopped producing 22.3v and was showing 8v ,is it damaged completely or I change the panel diod the panel may work again ?

Most probably diode might have got short circuited. From my thinking, two diode is short circuited and one is working fine, that why you are getting 8 V. You can verify it with a multimeter. If diodes are faulty, then replace it and everything will work fine.

For a 250 watt 36 v panel, we use 3 bypass diodes. So each diode will see theoretically a voltage if 12 v across it. So we use 15 v diode. Now for 250 w panel, max short circuit current comes nearly 7A. So a 15V,10A diode will work fine.

For blocking diode u have to choose voltage twice the open circuit voltage of solar panel. Current you can use the same. So for 250w 36 v panel, u have to use a diode of voltage minimum 72 and current 10 amps
