Went thru my expensive knife faze. Went thru my huge folder knife faze. Now (thanks to the sh!ty economy) I'm loving the crazy lack of difference between the cara cara and the (many Spiderco models) endura. Mr. Lt. Col. Nutinfancy, you are the man. Thanks so much for the heartfelt channel. Your no b.s. and no compromises approach to the multiple industries you review, is respected by many and enjoyed by more and more.

I want to sincerely thank you Nutnfancy! I have been watching your videos for years now and I have learned a lot about knives and guns, all thanks to you. I was in a outdoors shop about a week ago looking at some knives and i was asking questions that the man behind the counter didn't know the answers to. I actually ended up giving him your youtube channel and told him that if he was really interested in learning more he should check you out. went back today and he thanked me for referring you!

So I took Nutn's advice and picked one up. EDC'd for a year now and it's performed very well. Only issue was the screws on the clip kept backing out but nothing a little Loctite couldn't remedy. Terrific knife that I expect to provide years of reliable service.

Couldn't agree more!!!! I have 3 Cara Caras and 4 enduras. I LOVE these knives. Thanks for all the time you spend doing these reviews Nutn. My war chest of guns, ammo, knives, etc. is full of gear you've reviewed and recommended. God Bless.

I bought this knife about a week before I saw this video. Nutnfancy is dead on! This might be my favorite all time. Right out of the box I was cutting inch thick steaks on the grill. It was so effortless I almost burned my hand. Those of you looking for super value, I found this on blade authority priced at $20 for FRN handles, $30 for G10.

Great reviews, big fan! You hit the nail on the head for each product's specs/ hits & misses. I've been digging my CC2 G10 for quite a while. Great ergos (fwd or rev), light, maneuverable & useable (EDC/CQC).

Wow, TNP vids have been coming in bunches lately! LOVE IT! Excellent vid on a cool blade Nutn! I personally don't dig the deployment hole on the Byrds, but other than that it looks cool. For competitive options, don't forget the Spyderco Tenacious, another awesome blade for the same price point. I sure as hell love mine! Rock on man and keep the awesome videos coming!
@TedOfNod13 жыл бұрын
The reason the bevel on the Cara2 is wider is because the blade stays thicker towards the edge. The FFG isn't as deep as in the Endura. So you don't really end up with a finer edge.

I really appreciate Spyderco for making this cheaper line of Byrd knives. I usually save up for the higher end knives for myself but these Byrd knives are great high value gift knives. I like to buy them for friends or father/brother-in-laws who like knives but don't have the same affinity for knives that I do. Most of them wouldn't know the difference between a Byrd Carra Carra 2 and an Endura 4. Spyderco just gives us so many great options, more than any other knife maker out there!

I have the Carra Carra 2, in both G-10 and FRN. The FRN handle version now is comparable to the FRN handled Endura 4 FFG, traction is amazing. For the money, they are just outstanding!

Bang-for-buck, these are about the most awesome all-around blades. I've had 6 of them now, 4 given away as gifts as they were so popular. Great EDC when you're using and EDC constantly all day and very popular with a number hunters / gameskeepers; the lower gimping really is useful. Given the Byrd's (UK) work out equivalent in price here to a lot of the Spyderco's do in US the premium on the Spyderco's here make the Byrd's fantastic utilitarian, every day value for money. That said, love the Spyderco's, have the endura , delica, dragonfly, and a couple of others.

I'm a sucker for a good, budget knife. I've carried the Cara Cara 2 SS plain edge and the Meadowlark 2 FRN plain edge for a couple of years now and I have no issues with either of them. They take and hold an edge like champs and they're super easy to grip and use. I even find both sizes to be great for EDC, but I'm 6'4" tall and quite large framed.

Got mine this last week. Then stumbled onto this review. Seems I made a wise choice. I teamed it up with a Leatherman Rebar for my EDC & so far, so good. I'm fairly new to the knife world. I've just always used the blade on the Leathermans I've been carrying the last 20+ years when something needed cutting. But I am enjoying this Cara Cara 2.

Just ordered the FRN handle $18!! (Because of this review of course) Such a steal for this blade, but we'll see if I need to send it back for the G10. As long as QC keeps the FRN well made I have no complaints, the delica and endura FRN is great and knocks down the cost a bunch. We'll see at this price point if they can still keep it quality

I love this knife from the looks of it. I just think to the average knife guy, they might think this is just a fake spyderco lol. (Yes, i know this is a sub-company of true spyderco) i dont understand why Spyderco cant just make this for $20. The only thing i dont like about this knife is the hole in it. I wish it was a circle

Nutn, cool reference in regards to the Porsche Cayman R and 911 S. Porsche has been very careful to not allow the Cayman to overshadow the 911, however as we are seeing the R is very much closing in on that gap with its lower weight. Thing is that the Cayman is mid engine design and the 911 is rear engine. The mid engine is inherently a better design and handles better, if the Cayman was given the power of the 911 it would easily outpace its bigger brother no questions asked. Great review.

@fuzzylumps1 Bang for buck I would highly agree. The C6 Corvette Z06 is the performance bargain of sports cars, nearly a super car when you analyze the numbers. Especially when you can find a nice pre owned 2006 Z06 for under $45,000 dollars. You get a dry sump, 7.0 Liter engine with titanium connecting rods, push rod and valves, carbon fiber front fenders, frankly the list goes on and on all developed from the racetrack to the car. That is insane for 45,000 dollars!

My Zytel Cara Cara partial serration with the feather pattern handle scales is my EDC. Love the length and weight. Perfect lock. I'm not too happy with the steel. I almost have to sharpen after every use. As soon as I wear it to a nub I will switch to my Zytel Cara Cara plain edge with the Endura style handle scales that I prefer. Great price. I love my Endura full serration and Tenacious plain edge too much to use. lol. ( I'm hard on knifes) My spydercos are my favorites of my 100+ knives.

For affordable tactical perfection, I suggest a Spyderco Resilience with a zip tie modification for pocket snag/wave opening (you'll need a bigger ziptie than the normal ones to move the large 4.25" blade). It is the best, cheap tactical knife (with ziptie mod) i.m.o . Has excellent jimping, classic Spydie Hole, nice G-10 scales, large handle, and decent steel (8Cr13MoV) for around $40.00. But I do believe Spyderco should make a 4" knife between the Tenacious and Resilience lineup, though.

ive had my cara cara 2 for a while now and i like the frn version better. a bit lighter and great traction. only thing i noticed was a little side to side play with the blade lock up even after tightening it. not super sharp out of the box but i touched it up and its just fine. its so light that right now its my edc blade of choice.
@werminator12 жыл бұрын
I am late to the party as usual but thought I could weigh in... The FRN model of the Cara Cara 2 has been swapped from the feathers pattern to a dual directional traction that is pretty comfortable and functional.. I grabbed that model over the G10 model simply for cost savings to determine if I liked the form factor... I am happy enough to carry it periodically but with the large stable of options I have aquired I cant say its a daily carry... Great for throwing in the car to have just in case.

@Bubblewhip341 Well if the person in question is a Nissan 370 fan then yes it would be a great value, the new Boss 302 for that matter would preform at that level as well for nearly half the price as well. Value is in the eye of the beholder. If you are a Porsche fan then a Nissan or whatever other vehicle may not give you the same experience emotionally or perhaps not provide the same level of feel. Lets face it, at $40+ grand for a sports car this is a highly emotional purchase.

Great review. Like your comparison of these 2 knives to the Porsche Cayman and Carrera. I have bought several folders based on your recommendations and the purchases have been spot on so far. :) I guess I will be getting a cara cara2 soon. I wonder how the cara cara2 will measure up to the Tenacious.

Just about all of these Byrd knives are up there at the top where quality vs. budget is concerned. The only problem I have with them, is that a lot of times, you really have to spend time cleaning them right out of the box. The assembly area where these things are made must be filthy. I had to all but completely disassemble my Meadowlark to get out the black residue that covered the liners, and was in between the pivot. It sounded like there was sand in there it was so dirty. But once clean, it's a great blade for just a little bit of money.

Ugh I totally hate mine, I don't know if mine is a lemon or what, the blade alignment is so terribly bad that the blade presses against the side of the frame, I have taken it apart many times and tried numerous things to remedy the blade centering and incredible stiffness and haven't been able to improve it at all.
