I just bought this knife ($25 today Feb 2022 vs $20 from 4 years ago) and THEN decided to watch reviews. I am not sure if I still would have bought it or not, as I am not a knife guy but figured I should have one. I also learned from watching this that I am a poor person. Fair enough!

@@AdvancedKnifeBro I know! I should have added smileys to indicate that I knew. Sorry about that. My wife and I jokingly (sarcastically and even ironically, definitely facetiously) refer to ourselves and sometimes others as "poor" as a joke all the time, and it rarely applies or makes sense. Great channel. I just subbed.

I' m really sorry for your loss. Your review is , from my point of view, very precise. Specially when you describe the " skeletonized" liners! I live in Argentina, where almost all of us are poor, and every year, getting poorer. I work in maintenance and I' ve been carrying my Cara Cara 2, for the last six or seven years. I think is a good minimalistic working knife. I agree with your ideas about "professional knives flickers". The quality of your video, the light, your shop is outstanding! Cheers!

The Byrd was my first pocket knife. It's purpose was for EDC. I wanted a decent cheap knife for several reasons. 1. To see if EDC'ing a knife was something I'd like. 2 for the overall experience 3. To find out things I liked and didn't like so I know for a more expensive purpose next time. It served its purpose but left much to be desired. Now where do I go from here? 🤔 I doubt you still follow this post but on the off chance you do..... any suggestions for a second knife in the 100ish or lower price range?

So they make the handles for the Byrd very blocky and square instead of rounded like the Delica and Endura. I assume it's to intentionally make it look and feel cheap and uncomfortable so people will think there is value in paying $75 for a plastic Spyderco. Yea... the Delica and Endura are insanely overpriced. This knife still proves it, and it seems like that's what they wanted to avoid. The difference in steel and slight build quality increase doesn't add $50.

Good review. But I am always amazed about the comments of the Byrd Line. We compare the Cara Cara, the Meadowlark etc. But hardly anyone talks about the Spyderco Tenacious (8Cr13MoV) copy with the Byrd Raven 2 (CTS-BD1).. I will take the Raven 2 every time. I guess there are gems in any line.
@AdvancedKnifeBro6 жыл бұрын
The Raven 2 is a nice looking knife however there's a tradeoff in cutting edge over the Tenacious. Plus the Raven is a touch heavier. Some people want that better steel though.
@sputumtube6 жыл бұрын
The standard VG10 of the Endura isn't that much better than the 8cr13MoV of the Cara-Cara2. I've got Endura's in ZDP189, HAP40, V-Toku2 and soon (February hopefully) a Massdrop Super-Gold version. However, I use my Cara-Cara2 much more often. A few swift draws down the edge of the fine Lansky (Turnbox) rods and it's good to go for another few days (dependant on usage obviously).

I think you'll appreciate this Advanced knife brother, I carried an endura for 14 years, a fully serrated one. I loved it, it was the only knife I had at the time. I lost it. Like no chance of finding it lost. Remembered the name spyderco, looked it up, found it and remembered how I paid 90 bucks 14 15 years ago and then realize there such thing as the Byrd Cara Cara 2 so I bought one. I carry it a lot I even got the rescue Cara Cara version so I can have my serrated knife like I used to have but it's just not the same. I find myself alternating between the Cara Cara 2 and my land 9103 but I also have a lot of trouble bucking up the 90 bucks for a new fully serrated Endura which I still dearly miss. One day.

Advanced Knife Bro Very glad someone cares, I'm sure it's meant to differentiate it from the real McCoy, make it look uglier even, so you'll buy the real thing. But in reality, in its beater role, it actually has some utility. U can use it to grip onto certain bolts, get leverage on old school square shaped augers for example. I even think it helps with deployment. Totally agree it's ugly tho. But u shld try it out -- multi-use survival sheeit

The blade looks nice and slice-y. It seems to be a nice fidget-er, too. I just ordered one haha I once was a disciplined knife hobbyist wanting folding gentleman's folders from all over the world, but have found fidgetting flipper knives is a little addictive. All that aside, I like the looks of the Cara Cara. Not too tactical and cool flipping action...and most likely not get me arrested with NY's gravity blade law. Nice review, AKB. It only cost me $20, not bad.

Don't you include finger choils in the grip area?
@AdvancedKnifeBro6 жыл бұрын
I don’t really use them, and people don’t ask for them often. 3 graphics on one page, always seems to be crowded- and it literally adds about 5 minutes to editing and I barely have enough time each week to finish these. If a lot of people ask... then yes... but I already measure so much more than other reviewers (and still make mistakes), and the more things you measure the more people ask... like how much of the knife is above a clip... how long is the clip.... diameter of lanyard hole. However if someone just asks me- I can just measure it and tell them.
@AdvancedKnifeBro6 жыл бұрын
But yeah... finger choils are too close to the blade for me and I never feel comfortable placing my finger there.
@wojtekimbier6 жыл бұрын
I didn't mean to ask for a measurement of the choil size separately, but whether you include it in the overall grip length, haha! It seems you don't, then
