I measured my scallops. They are only .001 deep. But you can definitely see and feel them. I am extremely disappointed. I'm going to have to spend a lot more time sanding vs straight knives. All of the videos I watched before purchasing just talked about how great the finish is. NOT great.

I used to have a 735 I put infinity carbide tipped knives in it. I not kidding when I say it left a better surface then my powermatic with a bryd head. I used my 735 for ebony and other hard abrasive woods. To sharpen infinity carbide tipped straight knives I would cut 45 degree angle slots in a thick material. Set the knives in the slots and rub all three bevels with a cheap Smith diamond hone. I wouldn’t suggest sharpening the cheap Dewalt knives. Beautiful looking walnut . Good Luck always

is this something everyone experiences with a Shelix? Why is this the first time Im seeing this about this cutter? For $500 this is something we should have to deal with.

Pretty much, everyone still hits it with sandpaper or a card scraper after it comes out of the planer. I was just showing what it looks like without doing that, and the gloss really highlights the grooves. I think it's still much better than knives and last much longer.

Personally, I’d prefer a smoother interior.

That looks like one or two thousandths of deviation. I'd have no issue sanding that out.

Good to know before buying. Not a game changer, nonetheless…. Nice drying racks, I need to make some those for myself.

What do you make with those beautiful small pieces?

Thanks! With these pieces, I made a few Advent boxes. They’re like apothecary chests but for the Christmas countdown. Here they are: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKvYZ3yBdpmhhZY

Your statement at 50 seconds ,you advise that a blade on a 735 can’t be sharpened. Maybe the reason your counts are so low is you don’t know your tools . Yes the planer blades can be sharpened . Sad yourthat ill informed. Next
