Just to point out a couple of things.. Bystander did not have a choke on the perp. Noticed his cupped hands over the top of perps windpipe/adams apple. He was allowing air and blood to flow through the perps neck. Dont know if that was intentional or incidental. If the bystander was as trained as he appears to be the armbar was a fail safe if the guy had escalated the altercation and reached for something to be used as a weapon. Notice that the bystander hooked his foot around the perps other arm as a control mechanism. Had the perp reached for something I believe the bystander would have popped that elbow and escalated appropriately. While not textbook bjj, as perfect situations seldom are in the real world, the guy showed a higher level of training and confidence and did a good job of controlling and not injuring the perp. Should he have gotten involved? That was his decision.

she should not be a cop she did every single thing wrong. as someone who follows gun safety to a tee you shouldn’t have a gun if you won’t use it or if you’ll let it be taken from you this easy shes so lucky he was there and willing to help. he saved the day not her.

As a very experienced BJJ practitioner, I agree with John on this one. A chin strap hold from rear mount is not very effective, nor an arm bar (not cranked), in a self defense scenario. Eventually he gets top position which is best. Knee on belly, mount, rear mount, all from top position is your best option for safe control and staying out of legal trouble. Hats off to the bystander for helping out the cop.

it's 100% her responsibility as the mother to protect her child and not be doing this kind of work, epic fail (to put it youtube friendly) the kind that would make these decisions is the same that would try to sue the department if they even suggested she take some time off or try to prohibit field work

I applaud the bystander for helping. Certainly he places himself in great risk to life and safety however, speaking now from personal experience its not really something you give thought to. You see something morally wrong and just immediately respond by trying to stop that behavior. I have learned alot about what to think of in times of use of force and the appropriate levels of use of force by watching your videos. I find them very educational and useful. Thank you for the content.

I 100% agree a pregnant officer should not have been on patrol! Absolutely no disrespect to the officer herself and this is not about her abilities, it’s just so dangerous and she has a life in her ! That bystander was and is a hero, I think he acted valiantly and of course he took a great ris. we as private citizens don’t fully understand the situation and how cops are trained etc but he really helped this officer from what I see . I’m glad he was there and I’m glad the officer is safe. The perp was a freakin zombie !

This is not about her abilities? This is definitely about her abilities and not at all about her carrying a baby in her body. She is not suited for this job baby or not.

That woman should not be in law enforcement. Too emotional. Pregnant. Weak. Disadvantaged. Places civilians in harms way. Ineffective without a weapon. An eventual burden on fellow cops.

I did help a cop once. Cop was downright winded, I asked if he wanted me to go after him and he said yes if I could. I went toward the man, realizing slowly as I was losing distance that, one this kid must be an NFL player, two (I was carrying) wondered if I do catch them, do they have weapon? What if they get ahold of my weapon? Where did the cop go? "bad guy" went to a salvage yard of sorts and hid somewhere. I couldn't find him, cop wasn't anywhere to be seen. ... I had to back my way out of there and realized I was way in over my head. I considered myself in great shape at the time and was heavy into training mixed martial arts... But it only made situation much worse for me in my opinion. If I injured him, I'd be damned for using excessive force, if he got my weapon I'd be responsible for bringing it to him. If he had a knife and hesitated I'd surely get stabbed, minimum cut.... Later found out that kid wasn't a kid, but some dude on meth. He got away and reason he was being chased was never fully explained. Also never found out where cop left to. (bastard) He abandoned me. Had to talk to other officers. They just told me they know where I live if there's any questions. For one. Police wearing gear chasing bad guys is no joke. I was fresh on the start, in good shape, and every two running steps toward the guy he gained distance on me.

If I had BJJ training, yeah I'd do the same thing too. BJJ to the rescue. The guy is a hero for helping. The officer is the illustration of DEI being dangerous to the public. Pregnant or not, she was incapable of physically controlling this suspect. Heck, most of the tiny, soft men they put on the job the last 20 years or so are not qualified to be there either.
