I didn't have a gun on me at the time. I wasn't financially able to own one which is also why I rode my bike back and forth on trails at night. Never again have I been on that trail. I started making my roommate at the time, now wife, drive me to and from work. I don't mess with cats. Even a house cat can ruin your day if it's mad enough.

Pro-tip I picked up from dangerous game hunters in a video or an article a long while back- when faced with a dangerous animal that's that much shorter than you, counterintuitive though it may sound, crouch or kneel before you fire, get down on their level. What are you? A F-N mountain lion mind reader? Is the reason all that important? Sounds like you are making excuses for the cat like libs do for criminals.

One Comment: Dude, stop filming and put both hands on your gun. This isn't a viral moment; it's a life-or-death situation!

There was a fellow in Colorado, I believe, who was out jogging when a big cat decided to have a go at him. With his his bare hands, he killed the cat. Look up the story. That fellow sure has some empty hand skills, I say.

Guy may have been aiming his pistol through the camera view? He’s lucky. So is the mountain lion.

Good to talk about situations like this once in a while just to have some extra knowledge we might find. Never know what you may run into and need to cover your ASP.

Right, & as you saw he didn't fire till it came charging at him, & only fired again when it turned around to think twice about coming after him again.

We live in 50 acres at around 5k elevation in the Sierra Nevada mountains, south of Mt Lassen. Our trail came pick up big cats and few times a week. It's not that they're uncommon, it's that 99% of the time you just didn't see them with your human eyes. I don't even walk around our own property without a hand gun. We have lots of bears to but I'm not so concerned with them, still a threat though.

I saw an image of Timothy Treadwell's remains after being killed by a bear. Everything from his ribcage to his ankles had been devoured. His face was grey and his shredded blue jeans were around his feet. The bear had eaten him alive. He had gotten careless around dangerous animals.

The cammer was lucky the mountain lion was healthy and not lacking for food. Although rare, had the mountain lion been sick with Rabies the outcome would have been different. Glad no mountain lions were harmed in the making of this video. Thanks for sharing.
