Yeah. The heads of the company that owned the cargo ship totally ignored the warnings coming from the ship workers about the power shutting off without alerts along with other issues with the ship. tugs had already left the ship as it was up to power in the channel, they probably dropped anchor when they lost power, and anchor took a bit to catch and when it did it directed them into bridge supports

I think the ship requires 48 or 49 feet of water to float. the water around the piling is only 20 to 22 feet. The ship must’ve been flooring it to get it to hit the bridge.

What hasn’t really been discussed is how the back or side span on north side came up, then came back down smashed the northern most pier truss pier, which then ended up taking down three full spans of continuous steel girders right back to the expansion joint. You can see it occur in the other video but here is where you see the full impact of it. This collapse will be studied by CEE students for the rest of time.
