To be honest I haven't tried earlier versions. Blenders API have a tendency to change quite a bit in each release, so it is very hard to know if different blender versions are compatible with a specific addon

Pin the vertices that should move with the character. Constrain or use armature modifier to deform the pinned vertices to the character

There are constantly updates being made to blenders API, so I might be using a part of the API that doesn't exist in 3.5 (I wrote it for 3.6). There might be a fix, but I don't have time enough to make the addon backwards compatible. Perhaps you can try and use Blender 3.6 just when you use the addon and then export the mesh to 3.5?

I tried to complete the first steps using a plane and a cube, but when I add cloth to the plane and run the simulation, it just sits on top of the cube. Do i need to subdivide the plane first before I use the cloth addon? If so, it would be helpful to include that step so rookies can follow along

Yes. You need to subdivide the plane. Make sure the subdiv modifier is above the cloth modifier. Good suggestion with adding a plane to the tutorial

Check the different categories in the asset browser. It is also possible that I used separate scenes for different setups in each blender file in the addons assets. Make sure that you install the zip file and don't try to unzip the file before installing the addon

You might need to increase the collision quality in the UI. You can also try to key the armature bones and play the animation in the timeline
