I was there when my best friend asked her stepdad to adopt her on his birthday. She gave him the papers, he took one look at them, and burst into tears and hugged her so tight. Once he finally stopped crying, he tearfully said “Now the whole world will know what I’ve known in my heart all along….that you’re my little girl.” Not a single dry eye in that room.

My adopted father married my mom when I was 2. H egave me a wonderful life. When I was 50, I contacted my birth father. My half brother told me I was the lucky one, because growing up his dad was an angry alcoholic... When I meet him, he had gotten his life together... God has always had my back and I am truly blessed...

My father died when I was 5 or 6, and my mother worked like a dog from that time until she married my stepfather, when I was 8. He was, and is, one of the best human beings I've ever known, and I doubt if my real father could have done as well because he really had problems. I love my stepdad so much for being a GOOD man, taking such good care of our family, and changing my life from what it very likely would have been. Good men are gold.

I was never allowed to adopt any of my "step" kids. Although I spent most of my adult life helping raise someone else's babies, that was as far as it was allowed to go. It's heart breaking to put all your love into someone else's kids, just to be reminded on a regular basis I was NOT their mother and would never be. The first set (1G?1B) the girl was 7 and the boy was 4. As far as their father was concerned, I was just someone who took care of his kids and slept with him. The second set (1G/1B) she was 2 1/2, he was 2 months). They STILL call me Moma to this day. All the kids are adults now and I still love them as if they were my natural kids! When I married my last and best husband, he came with 2 adult boys. I love those two just as much as if I gave birth to them! Yes, a piece of paper that said I was "legally" their mom would have been very nice, but, we all are connected by heart! That's so much better, in my opinion!

@@lp2395 Well, I have the chance to know my bilogical mother. I love and Respect her for who she is, but idk, it does not feel the same. That step mother I'm talking about is no longer with my Dad, but she still my mom tho, and will always be. I wont tell my life for telling my life but I think it's a pretty interesting portrait. But the reason why I love her so much is due to the fact that, after my 14 years old, my dad were like, invisible. So we had to team up her and me to raise my little brother and my little Sister. So yeah, I love her as a mother, but also as a team mate. She is a very strong and inteligent person. I clearly wish to be like her since I am old enough to understand what a good human is.

If you ever find yourself talking bad about this world…remember that we each have the opportunity to see the glass half empty or full. Instead of chastising the negative, let us spread word of the awe inspiring humanity we each have within us. Both of my parents recently died, and I refuse to waste one day debilitated because of it. I am so fortunate to have had such great people raise. I am the lucky one. It is up to me to give back to those less fortunate. And I’ll tell you, nothing is more rewarding that helping those that truly need it.

truest words ever spoken and i have said it many times LOVE NOT BLOOD MAKES YOU FAMILY, ask any military man if they dont fight for each other out of love for each other not because they are related, i have many fond memories of my none biological grandfather because we cared for each other and one on my fondest memories of him is one Christmas he was decorating the tree and after having some wobbly pop, he fell into the tree putting the angle on the top, him and i were laughing our heads off while my real grandmother was screaming at him, i will never forget that moment in time. love not blood makes you family and when you look into the lives of people who seem lost, that is the key factor missing for them.

Idk man.. its usually the woman's fault that the relationship didn't work out in the first place. I would only pick up a dead beat dads kids if the mother was committed to me, which, is never the case. They will always put their kids first, above anything, even when they themselves are enabling the children and ruining their lives. There's a huge reason most men won't even come close to a single mother. Nobody wants to meet and get attached to children that aren't theirs just so they can be taken away just as easy.

I once got called “Papa” by a customer’s toddler back when i worked part time. It was an accomplishment for me😇 If a child calls you that, it’s an honor because they genuinely trust and love you😄

God Bless good Dad's who are a gift of life that live forever. I know as my son's father died in a flying accident. Years latter the best man who loved my son was my second husband. He couldn't have been better. Grateful, thankful.

Blood never necessarily means family. My parents are my blood, but haven't really treated me like family, but my mum's adoptive parents ALWAYS treated me like proper family when they were eith me. I love you my nanna and my poppa❤❤
