My son stayed with my aunt when my husband and I got married. We had said he would be his stepdad when we got home. My son told him he didn't want him to be his stepdad, then he hit us with " just my Daddy ". That was almost 22 yrs ago. He has my maiden last name, but there are times when my husband gets more love I think.

I met my wife 27 years ago. She was walking to her apartment with her 4 year old son. We became friends shortly after. Many outings and field trips for school. One day at the pumpkin patch, the mothers asked who my child was. I explained that I was helping a friend by taking her son on this field trip. They looked at me like it was cute. My friends child ran up to me, hugged me and called me dad. My oldest son is now 32 years old. His mother and I have been married for 24 years. We also have another son and daughter now. This 4 year old will always be my first born. It wasn’t all roses, but in the end he turned out to be an exceptional Police Officer. The best thing I told his biological father is that my son might look like you, but he acts like me.

My step-dad cried the first time I called him "dad." at the time, it was completely by accident. But I still think it said a lot that it occurred to me so naturally to call him that. I made sure to make it clear on Father's Day that I do consider him a dad. That even if it slipped out, the feelings were there and were not accidental. I'm fortunate to still have my biological father in my life and to still have a very strong bond with him. In which case, I'm even luckier to have two dads. They have both played very important roles in my life at different times. There is no separation or difference in the love I have for them both.

I've been with my step family since I was three years old, my first memory is with my step mom. She's taken care of me since I was 3.. she's always been an amazing mom! I remember when I was 9, for an extra mother's day present, I made a song for her! One of the lyrics was "your the best mom in the world" and in the song I was calling her my mom, she cried during that song, I've never actually called her mom directly, but I think that was the closest I've gotten to it! And I always, whenever I'm talking about my siblings or step mom, I just say my sisters, my brothers, and my mom, I'm so grateful to have such a wonderful loving family..💞

I’m getting adopted this year. My name that I have on here is going to be my new name. My family that is adopting me got me when I was 6 years old. I’m going to be turning 18 this year on January 18th. It makes it even more special for the fact that it’s gonna be my golden birthday. I’m forever grateful for God leading this very glorious family. Without God I probably wouldn’t be alive. I been through physical and emotional abuse and neglect. I was a very troubled child. I’m so very grateful that this family didn’t give up on me because of how I was. So now I write music to spread awareness of those kids or adults that are going through something similar or they think that they are alone. Trust me you’re all not alone. I promise you. I know it’s hard to let go or ask for help. It was very difficult for me to ask for help. But my family helped me by putting me in therapy. If any of you are struggling with anything. Just remember you’re not alone. God will guide you through. Just have faith. So I hope and pray that you have a blessed day. If you need anything just comment on my posts on my KZbin channel.

I was older when my stepdad came into my life so I never really felt comfortable calling him dad. When I was around 10 years old we considered adoption but my biological father wouldn’t allow that (you need the other parents consent to go through with adoption of you didn’t know) seeing this video makes me wish I did call him dad at least once or the adoption could’ve been finalized so I could have his reaction-he’s not a very emotional person. He doesn’t even really laugh so it’s something I’ve always kinda regretted

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but when I was eight, a naïve fatherless boy, I asked my mom if my older half-sister's dad could be my dad. I called him that. Looking back, I wish I hadn't, and I'd have just gone with the flow and not tried to put myself in his family.
@ByStormmАй бұрын
Thanks for sharing that, John. It’s totally understandable to feel that way as a child. Don’t be too hard on yourself - we all want to belong somewhere, especially when we’re young.
@johnrainsman6650Ай бұрын
@@ByStormm Yeah. Thing is though, it feels like he'd been "too nice" to me. I'll give some context, and let's call him Clark. I felt like he didn't really give me a lot of attention when picking up or dropping off my sister (though I was very little, so what would I remember anyway). Then in 2004, I stayed over at his and his family's house with my sister for a week or two, when I was eight. Once in the summer, the other in November. I don't know if I asked if I could join my sister, but there's a pretty good chance I did, to invite myself into her family. It was between the trips that I asked my mom if Clark could be my dad, and he agreed. I even wrote them a letter in 2013 because I missed them. By then, the "dad" thing was done. Well, when I reunited with Clark in 2015 for my sister's college graduation and her wedding in 2019, I felt like he was a little too interactive with me. All peppy and "I'm-a-big-fan-of-John" attitude. It was actually kind of annoying. At my sister's wedding, he commented how good the food looked in line, compared our heights when the conversation about mine came up, and fist-bumped me about some funny joke I must've made (my memory is vague). I don't know, I wonder if he was just embellishing his admiration of me. I tried to be close to him and his family and maybe he was giving me too much "fatherly" affection in response. But maybe because he felt like he had to? If that's the case, I don't want it. It's kind of like going on a pity date with someone. You just don't do that.

In my opinion, those who were adopted by a man and a woman should love them much more, because they raise the child exactly like their own child and do everything for the welfare of that child. If someone adopted me, when I grew up I took care of them until the end of my life and considered them the best parents in the world,, of course, thank God, I grew up in a family where parents lived together lovingly until the last day of their lives and I was blessed with both of them.

@@cheyennebarceio286 I am so sorry for you. Unfortunately, when people give birth, they do not become parents. You can biologically give birth to a child, but being a mother or father has nothing to do with giving birth. Being a parent is about love and effort. It's about the sleepless nights you spend for your child, the food you cook for her, the fairy tale you read to her, and the game you play with her. Some people have virtue and intelligence. Even if their ties with their parents are weak, they are always generous with their efforts and love for their children. It's a great chance that your daughter has you as a mother. We have to be strong for them. Because they did not want to come into this world themselves, those little hearts, whether they are born with or without a plan, as long as the pregnancy is not terminated, we are the ones who want them in our future. We owe a huge debt to those little people by caring and loving for them as parents and relatives. We must work for them to live in a better world than ours. This is very difficult but not impossible. I don't know if it's important to you but I don't know you but I care for you. I wish your daughter and you; strength, love, health, profit and happiness.
