It’s comical listening to Utah fans complain about BYU. Utah has been stealing BYU players for the last 10 years without competition since they were in the pac12.

This is true. I have enough family ties to Utah that I can enjoy their successes, but I’m also life-long BYU so I really enjoy their failures. Somehow it’s great either way! It’s crazy how Utah’s recruiting advantages dried up overnight. California ties, gone with the Pac 12 dissolution. Conference affiliation advantage, gone with Utah’s Big 12 membership. NIL, advantage BYU. Prestige and momentum from the recent Pac 12 dominance, gone with the year one Big 12 face plant. Couldn’t have happened to a better school. 😂

It’s not tampering. As long as all pre portal communication takes place via their ministering brothers then it’s a religious protected activity. Listen when the defense is second in the big 12 in points per game (right behind BYU after the bowl game). But the offense is so bad that you go on a 7 game losing streak? Utahs defensive players don’t owe that program a thing after that season, they don’t owe whittingham a thing. Every player who stays is icing on the cake for Utah. Shame on whit for putting all the eggs in the basket called cam rising. Shame on Whitt for discarding the offense year after year after year. It paid off in the pac 12. But it’s back fired here take the consequences with some class. You’re not the only power 4 team on the block anymore, the edge gone. Whittingham and Harlan tried to distance the rivalry. Felt like playing Florida and SUU each year was what was best for football in the state of Utah. Talk about self righteousness… stole the game, stole D line, earned the Mantle. Go Cougs.

I knew it right after the BYU game. Him and Rose wanted to come to the Y since the start of the season. It'll be him and Taumoepeau at DT, and Viliami Pouha and Tausili Akana at edge 🔥🔥🔥🔥 that DL setup will be more dangerous than this year's DL. Plus the new additions at LB that are coming in are frickin nuts. BYU is looking to be even better next season than this season to be honest. Offense has all the WR's returning but 1 and all the TE's are crazy. Plus, the RB room is returning entirely and the new additions make the RB room absolutely juiced up. Moa, Nawahine, Martin, Haunga all returning as sophomores and juniors. And the additional OL coming in are absolute beasts. Tanuvasa and Gentry served in the Orem Utah Mission. Now they get to play at the Y together. And jack Kelly is returning a well 💯👌🏽😎

I don't see any weak spots. Best kicker in school history. They need to hire John Beck as a full time consultant to help Aaron with his game calling. They brought in help for Jay Hill, now time for Aaron. TJ woods is a great addition to our O line. I believe both Pay brothers are now playing. So O line should be stout. I love the defense they used against Colorado, and think it will be unstoppable. Clean up 3rd down on both sides of the ball and they will go all the way to the National championship.

One of BYU’s better bowl beatdowns over a non-creampuff opponent since 2006 Oregon 38-8 & 1994 Okie 31-6. Doug Scovil would’ve fixed Retzlaff’s short-stop sling before he would’ve ever been allowed to start.

BYU is the ones who should of been chosen to play P5, not Utah. Both PAC 12 and Big 12 were scared of them, knew they couldn't compete. BYU would have been their best options, and were left out. Despite the huge advantage of money and recruiting, Utah brags they won 9 in a row (most were close and came down to officiating). Once BYU has same amount of money, they will continue to pound the sand out of Utah, just like they did in the WAC and MWC. Utah would not have survived independence, while BYU thrived.

I said mid season that the toilet was flushed and water circling at Utah with their program, but Utes wouldn't realize it. I don't think they rebuild, especially not when BYU is the one going 9-0 as Utah was 4-5 at that point, after 5 losses in a row. I said the portal would come, and everyone would leave, and recruits would decommit. Is exactly what is happening. I think Whittingham is lying and plans on retiring, but can't speak up because will lose even more recruits.

Utah fans have never respected the fact that BYU is a true national program. They had a few years in the PAC-12 where they had the upper hand, but now they are back on a level field the pendulum has swong back in BYU favor. The truth is the real money in the state of Utah bleeds blue and has for decades. BYU also pulls from wealthy alumni on a national level. Don’t believe it? Go to a BYU away game and see the BYU fans from Texas, Arizona or California that show up. NIL, portal plus BIG 12 membership has made BYU a very attractive option for players. And I don’t see that changing.

Hey Jake, I have a question for you? Do you think the Cougars are going to be content to do what they have always done: IE recruit mainly Mormon athletes, get the occasional star (Keanu) and fall behind in an NIL era, eventually becoming irrelevant in college football. Meaning the G5, and ACC, and much of the BIG12 teams that can't keep up, do not appear to be included in what college football is becoming (listen to Nick Saban on this). Or, are the University and ultimately the Church (as they own the school) going to decide to find a way to keep up in spending? What does this look like in your mind.

Jake, I am curious about the momentum we are all seeing from the BYU basketball team to the BYU football team and then back to the BYU basketball team going back and forth. Do you believe this momentum is influencing all of these great additions to the BYU recruiting efforts for both programs?
@liamneu5568
@liamneu5568 2 күн бұрын
The momentum definitely helps but the real influence is coming from NIL. BYU seems to have much greater NIL resources than Utah and that’s allowing them to make offers that these kids just can’t refuse

BYU needs to bite the bullet and build a new 105,000 seat stadium off freeway down by Nephi or so. Would help with traffic and I believe they could easily fill the stadium. Extra tickets, parking and concessions should be able to pay for it. Build a dome for late November/December playoff games. Could turn stadium into soccer stadium and practice field. Continue pumping money into sports, it will continue to pay off. Being that highly ranked in sports should be utilized. More seats, more revenue, more home field advantage.

Would you PLEASE breakdown how significant BYU's ability to compete at the D1 level is DESPITE everything going against them when recruiting high-level kids??? You alluded to one thing already, the NIL money, how about the Honor Code and how that effects recruiting efforts, especially with non-LDS players??? Not very many kids (non-LDS) would be willing to voluntarily abide with the Honor Code. It's impressive how the Cougs are able to field a competitive team while maintaining a semblance of morality.

There have been fake posts of 5 star athletes going to BYU. But despite them being that good seems would only hurt the program. We need solid student athletes that work as a team, not superstars trying to be everything. I couldn't tell you who is the best player on BYUs team, they play as a team. We have Martin and Roberts, we don't need a running back or receiver that doesn't know the system. We are already in a good situation, don't fix what isn't broken.
