@RohoSombreroКүн бұрын
This game will be tough. I was glad we didn’t have to play them because I think we match up worse against Colorado than just about any team in the conference. They have WR’s and DB’s with too much speed and a deadly accurate QB. To top it off we don’t have much of a pass rush. I’m afraid it could get ugly.

Hey Jake, what about Drake Toll's reporting that the rating sites and ESPN are tampering with ratings to favor the Big 2 and hurt the Big 12. How about a lawsuit?

Wait a minute, Jake. Didn't I bring up this topic of JC players and the Diego Pavia ruling about five days ago and posted it on your site. I also remember mentioning Mory Bamba and Caleb Etienne by name as two players who had a real shot of coming back if they could get some NIL money for the first semester. You made it sound like you came up with a winner. 😉 WoW!!

Best episode yet - you are a solid bunch of talented young guys. The comedy was pure. BYU alum living in SoCal, love learning about these other fine schools and programs in the Big 12. Drake - I like you, keep being you, the critics are a badge of honor. Jake get the grill. JT I get you 💨. Go ASU in the playoff!

Akana and Clegg wont "start" for BYU next year but they willl certainly help the depth/back up spots I will expect Asiata will be given the chance to start. Dont think that another big linebacker couild be moved if Kelly comes back to play.. I hope BYU gets the Utah D lineman who just entered the portal along with the Michigan OL (Gentry). He has turned BYU down twice before but we need all the linemen help we can get so BYU should keep trying to get him.

Darius Lassiter return, might make Chase change his mind so that could be an issue as well. Obviously wasn't in his planning before, and he would see less action probably with Darius coming back.
@mtanner51683 күн бұрын
Man, getting Etienne back for another year would be a miracle. The miracle would just cost 7 figures…. I get Gentry was highly recruited out of high school, but he hasn’t been able to stay healthy and really hasn’t done anything at Michigan. Bamba would really help given our lack of depth in the CB room. Would love Lassiter back, but we shouldn’t break the bank for him….

BYU has no great recruiter on offense and you can see it with the lack of big time signing. You won't unless you bring in someone on offense that will bring big talent, AROD Fesi and Harvey are ok coaches but not recruiting. Offense needs to catch up to the defense.

DT Sani Tuala from Sydney, 6'5", 285lbs, from Sydney, Australia, has only played one year of football at Citrus College JC in So. Cal, who grew up playing basketball and rugby, Also recruited by Washington, Cal, Houston, Utah, Oklahoma, Eastern Michigan, Hawaii, North Texas, San Diego State, UTSA and Stephen F. Austin. Would benefit having an extra year at BYU for development.

Caleb Etiene may benefit from another year of development before the NFL.

Agreed. It was really only this year that he solidified his play. But he could still use some seasoning from Coach Woods.

Darius needs to move on. He faded at the end of the year, it's time to get Jojo and Nacua on the field before they both transfer as well.

WRs are constantly rotating in/out. We'd be nuts to let him go if NIL is right. All IMHO of course. Best players will play. 😊

@dirkpalmer1067 The portal and now JC rules are creating havoc on college football. I think it's better long-term to hand the team over to the young guys, keep them happy/engaged for the next 3-4 years instead of losing them to the portal to keep Lass for one more season. Just this man's opinion though.
@dirkpalmer10673 күн бұрын
@ThereelBR it's definitely a balancing act--especially with roster reduction. Coaches will have to balance position rooms with NIL, etc. Won't be easy, but I trust our staff. BYU '82
@dirkpalmer10673 күн бұрын
@hennore would you prefer they step up by beating out Lassiter, or say bye, and put lesser qualified players on the field?
@bigddan113 күн бұрын
Continuity is typically better would be a better statement. Need proof. Look at Kansas and Oklahoma State. More than 80% of their rosters returned this season, and they ended up being two of the worst Big XII teams recordwise.
@claydredsbroadhead77633 күн бұрын
BYU will need to be more consistent on offense to be big12 contender. They won a lot of close games this year, and those close games might not go their way next year.

In my opinion BYU does vary well in the Portal... Especially in vetting them. In my opinion the best programs are going to bring transfers from the portal only because their highschool recruit isn't developing as fast as expected!!! The best programs in my opinion will use highschool recruits to replace transfers.!?!?!?

Retzlaff needs to improve his throwing accuracy a lot. Hit recievers more in stride so they dont have to go to the ground to make the catch. Great additions lately. I still wish Johnson DL from Spanish Fork would stay at BYU. However, maybe he was told to go play somewhere else for 2 years and then come back to BYU.

Chase has a NFL game and will play in the league IMO as a Football lifer and very passionate for the game. Didn't surprise me he graded lower round because when you get a NFL evaluation it is super cookie cutter eval, It's why Puka got a late round grade but turned out to be an ALL-PRO. Football smarts and Dog is not evaluated. Chase IMO will make it in the NFL and be good-great. He has the perfect mindset you want from a player. He has the BACKYARD BALL in him, he knows the game & that's why you see him make incredible plays, getting his foot in bounds because he knows the situation on EVERY PLAY. He played 500 with his friends growing up where you have 1 kid throw the Ball up to the other kids and whoever catches it gets 100. He learned the importance of catching the ball at it's highest point. That's what Backyard ball is and those players are the playmakers on a team. I thought Chase would go to a offense that would get him the ball if he came back so BYU fans should be super grateful he came back. Very solid Young Man.

BYU still needs more OL/DL in the portal. Landing Gentry and a few more good DL would be huge. Hunter Clegg was a really nice get.
@jkh21804 күн бұрын
I'm of the opinion that BYU HAS to recruit well in the trenches at all times. OL and DL. The best teams in program history have always been good there (LB too). Star skill position players (QB, RB, WR) are going to be hard to get AND retain in this portal/NIL era. But if you're always good in the trenches you have the opportunity to put out good football
@malaw5144 күн бұрын
Just added an edge rusher from Texas! Tausili Akana. Former 4 star, spent two years with the longhorns mostly special teams. Good get.

I honestly always expected Chase to either return or transfer. I don't think he was going to be more than 6th or 7th round. He has a chance to put up big numbers on a potentially good team and improve it while making NIL.
