Offense just needs to show up tomorrow the defense has played with grit the whole season and now it's time for Jake to show cougar Nation that he was the right choice for QB this season. I have a feeling Gerry could've gotten the same results as far as record in the wins column and at this point if we were in the same situation with a season saving game on the line I'd feel good about him being at the helm. Not sure about Jake but we'll know after tomorrow. Period

PFF says there is a clear line with Jake Retzlaff. He's the 4th best QB in the nation when he's not blitzed. However when he is blitzed he's near the bottom. I noticed Ropati really struggles to pick up blitzing LBers, so he needs some work if we're gonna keep him in on passing downs for protection.

It might just be me, but I noticed a few times in the Kansas game where LJ took himself out of the game...he was tapping his helmet and running off the field...so like you said I don't think he is 100%, he's giving it everything he's got.

Why are so many BYU fans in such distress. A fluke punt was a big reason for the loss and a drain of a very tough rivalry game. Did anyone pay attention to the practice week not being as good due to the strain from a rivalry game. No TDs in 4 red zone appearances plus the fluke. The offense is fine.Don't panic folks. If you have played sports before some times a loss helps re focus. No big changes needed. BYU 30- ASU 17

BYU needs to score 35 points to win pretty much any BIG12 game….thats the bottom line. BYU’s defense is good enough but it’s their offense that has become anemic. Not sure if it’s the play calling or execution but BYU coaches need to step on the gas until the last second of every game.

@@85portland My point is that the BYU play calling needs to be more aggressive in their offensive game. Been a fan all my life and yes 20 points might win you the game if your D is playing well but I’m saying WIN BIG and don’t put yourselves in a we have to score to win in the last 2 minutes of the game. Resounding 35+ point wins in 7 of their games. They scored 22 or less against SMU, Utah, and Kansas with them losing against KU. To maintain respect and making a statement to the CFP and other polls you better stop squeaking out wins against sub .500 teams. I’d much rather score 35 rather than the 20 you suggest in any game to show the country we are a formidable team. Go Cougs!

BYU will need to play at the top of their game to win this matchup…I think the players will be prepared, so it comes down to execution…ASU is a very good team, so BYU needs to force turnovers to get them off of their stride…the whole BYU team including Jake Retzlaff have a chip on their shoulder after that loss against Kansas, so look for them to step up their intensity. BYU 31-24. Go Cougars!

Why do we always defer when we win the toss? That’s just giving away a possession. I hate that.

Starting at the half gives you a guaranteed extra possession, no matter how the first half went down. Imagine your opponent goes on a long, methodical drive in the 2nd quarter and eats up 8 or 9 minutes of clock. You'd hardly have time to respond before halftime. Starting the 2nd half with the ball gives you the opportunity to respond again.

If BYU loses this game than they deserve what's coming if such a loss happens. And it will also show that Jake Retzlaf was the wrong choice with Gerry Bohanon riding the pine all season. BYU doesn't historically get transfers like Gerry. To make him backup was a ballsy move. And could hurt BYU in the future when similar transfers are looking for some place to go

I fear BYU has ran out of its mojo. It carried them to some crazy wins this year, but Utah took everything out of BYU. It showed against Kansas. Awful offensive play calling, defence looked like deer in headlights at times. Just not what you see out of a true contender.

D held Kansas to half the total yardage in their game against Iowa State. If Jake was more experienced and allowed the offense to score just one touchdown it would've been a W. I think they got mojo enough to beat the sun devils but it's going to take a great game this time around

Seems they are playing not to lose rather than playing to all out win! A few better judged balls by Jake R and they win. They just need to mix up their offense and air it out more. Kansas had the film. Option outside. which worked for SMU and Utah, didn’t work for Kansas and won’t work again until they hit him hard in other ways.

BYU needs to have a good strategy against pressure on Jake. Quick screens, draws, and the like because the word is that Jake does not do well when rushed. His low trajectory does not help. The run game needs to really step up and like always the defense needs to pitch a shutout . Unfortunately ASU is a really good team and very positive. ASU 45 BY 17 . That said, it has been a great year and this team has great individual character and the fans are wonderful. Been a good year and we should be happy about all the positives.

Highly doubt BYU 17 ASU 45. That is a huge margin. I think BYU plays with piss and vinegar and ASU should be worried. To much on the line for BYU to get rolled,and they are too mature and talented to get rolled. ASU quarterback is a freshman. Look to see him pressured
