Though they lost, Arizona does seem to have more energy and a better attitude than they did the last few years under Sumlin. If Sumlin was still coaching, Arizona would've lied down and died giving up three more touchdowns after BYU went up 21-3.

I really thought UA was gonna be a legit contender in the PAC12 for years under Rich Rod but after the year we won the South the injury bug struck us like no other every year after that. And then the rich rod era ended and Sumlin turned us into the most predictable team in the conference.

I'm a Utes fan so it's my job to trash BYU every chance I get, however, although those blue uni's are actually pretty good, how can you deny the color schemes of the Utes. I think the Utes have better Uni's that most Pro teams.

(from a BYU fan) Arizona is a good team with lots of talent. They got a LOT of 1st downs. They just never could put together any big plays. I think they'll get a lot better as the season progresses. BYU's defense needs a lot of work. They had some flashes of brilliance, but Arizona showed their weaknesses. A really good team is going to light up BYU's defense. BYU's offense is okay. Could be a lot better. They have a lot of weapons. Some of the play calling wasn't great. I think the reason they won was their big plays got them the yardage they needed, when they needed it. What say you?

First and foremost I’ll say I’m glad to hear Keenan Ellis had negative CT scans. Second, I think AZ is a work in progress, but that’s a significant improvement from the last few years when they were simply a piece of work. BYU has talent at so many skill positions and should be set to compete with anyone on their schedule this year. Fun game to open the season! Good luck the rest of the way.

It's going to take Arizona time, but they will get there. Jedd isn't messing around. All the talk so far, he is backing up. It is personal and you can tell he wants his team to win so bad. Gunner Cruz, a freshman, was going through the sidelines keeping his team pumped up. The defense impressed me depsite giving up some big plays. My Cats have a bright future.

*Alright fans of the Holy War, here it is:* A chance for the Utes to win their 10th straight against the Cougars. Both teams have had a steak of 9 wins (Utah twice and BYU once). I'm a huge Utes fan so obviously I'd love to see us go 10 straight. However, other than a couple of blowouts, a lot of these games have been intense nail bitters. Props to both schools that make the Holy War so epic! Let's have a sick game next weekend!! *Go Utes!!*

GO CATS!!! Tough loss, showed up to play the game and came close. I dont think that they will be the bottom of the conference, they have a lot of good players and their lack of play at the College level showed, give them some time and in a couple of weeks the wins will start to pile up.

I'll take the W. Game was well on its way to a blowout until that bonehead safety. BYU fans are going to overreact to the underwhelming final score, but honestly I like the psychology going into the U game humble and hungry more than overconfident.

You are absolutely right. The play call was really stupid given the performance of the offensive line. They should have run a short out or a crossing route to get a little space. That safety nearly lost BYU the game.

Overall AZ played well they are ushering in a new era of Jedd Fisch and the team and staff he’s built, I loved the 3/3 4th down conversions AZ had and I think Jaren Hall is a tad overrated, Cruz needs to find his arm and have a little patience. I think the momentum this game had at points made it fun and exciting to watch if AZ did better in the red zone they would’ve came away with the win.

@carlos bond sumlin at the time was a great hire but he really let go of Khalil Tate and as time went on we had an awful time trying to get good we had our moments but it go so bad I think the 11 loss streak and the 70-7 loss really pushed it over the edge to fire him

@carlos bond Khalil Tate was a projected hiesman his freshman year at U of A and Sumlin totally dropped the ball with his talent Tate had an arm but he could also run like no one else could but sumlin didn’t focus on building the OL and didn’t focus on Tate’s strengths also Tate wasn’t a team player so that also had things to do with it. Also Edwards is a good hire I think he’ll do great at ASU I heard all those allegations will be swept away bc I’m sure a lot of teams all have their issues lol

To be fair to gunner that interception toward the end was difficult to spot the back field defender, the angle shows that the second defender in front of the secondary backfield defender could not be seen, honest mistake that is corrected in time with more practice. He’s a great quarterback that makes smarts decisions, but a horrible offensive line. He’s not at fault. Gunner played fucking amazing in my opinion

Utah will be middle of the road this year. Probably no bowl game or at the very best a very minor bowl. Like the Holiday or Sun bowl. And also if they’re not careful they will lose at San Diego St. the Aztecs will be fired up for that one. I’m calling a 4-8 or 5-7 season for the Yewts. As for BYU. This was a warm up game vs AZ. They will polish off the rust by next week. I see a 11-1 or 10-2 season on the horizon.

The entire 2 deep has just 1 senior on offense and 1 senior on defense, and still looking pretty good coming off losing multiple seniors and early draftees and NFL free agents. In theory this should be a rebuild year, yet I think BYU will fair pretty well!
