C-17 Airdrops U.S. Navy over the water! AWESOME FOOTAGE!

A few years back my crew went South to do some airdrop missions. The unit we were supporting was the U.S. Navy. They burnt a CD for me on one of their previous sequential airdrops over the Atlantic ocean on board a C-17. Some spectacular footage taken from all different angles.

Back in the day when I was a C141 SpecOps Aircraft Commander (KCHS) we spent a lot of time getting this right. That was in the '80's. I'm no longer in the USAF but I'm glad we got it right. Hats off to these guys!

I do appreciate the work you guys do! The best thing i found here was that when the parachutists jump out of the planes jet stream and hit regular air they kinda tip forwards. To me that looks really funny and i did lol when that happened.

Here's a thought.. How many of you would want to ride on the boat as it hauled ass out the back of the aircraft? Providing of course you had your chute and you separated from the boat before the main chutes deployed. S Chase You'd be surprised. MFF chutes are very maneuverable. The first couple guys usually end up right next to the boats, and then they spread out a bit after that to find clear water to land in - landing in another canopy is bad.

If these guys are using ram air they *might* have a chance. They'd have a whole lot better chance if they cut that jump separation by 2/3rds

S Chase They're flying ram air. Trust me, we've been doing this for close to 20 years. The separation is as short as it is going to get. As soon as the boat is moving they start going, but planes tend to buck a little when 20K pounds goes off the ramp in mid air. They are also picking their way between the rollers on the deck, so like I said. The video doesn't show the landing obviously, but the only time I've seen guys land with any distance is when they have a malfunction or hesitation, or if they have to dodge other canopies or DZ support boats.
