My late father served in the RAF on No 216 Squadron stationed at Heliopolis, Cairo as an engine fitter on Daks and latterly joined the Southern Rhodesian Airforce/Royal Rhodesian Airforce and served there on No 3 Squadron Dakota’s. Grew up with Daks flying every day just about out of Salisbury Airport. What a fantastic aircraft they are !

My dad Lt Col Joseph E Bonafede was the pilot of “ I’ve Got It” dropping paratroopers on D-Day. Just a baby faced boy from Alton Illinois. I have a picture of him and his crew when he landed back in England. His plane was full of holes. He passed away in ‘04.

My Dad R F(Bob)Simpson, 435sq RCAF, crash landed one of these in Burma Jan12 '45 . One engine on fire, and the parachutes attached to the load of petrol and ammunition also on fire. He helped evacuate the wounded crew, 10 minutes later it blew up. He got the DFC.

Don't they just look magic. Real beauties. ❤. A wonderful collection of historic aircraft taking off from a grass runway is a harp back to how things used to be, Awesome. Normandy celebrations will be magnificent with these 4 icon taking part. Trully memorable 4 ship flypast. Brought to life by great camera work. Appreciate the time you took to capture these aircraft for us. 🫡👍 Lest we forget.

My father served in the Navy in world War II in the Pacific, so I have a deep and abiding love and appreciation for all the world War II veterans, I will never forget what they sacrificed for us. And I will never allow our enemies to make that sacrifice of no effect. Whether they are foreign or domestic.

Having just watched the F35Bs, just no comparison in what they did, to what they do today. I’m off to Shuttleworth at end of July, but miss the air show🫣, but didn’t know it existed until program on spitfire refurb. Thanks as always 🤓

Morning Nikos & Ted 👊🏼 A great sight & sound, which evokes real emotion... I have been to Shuttleworth many times - awesome place! Ted may also enjoy a visit to the Swiss 🇨🇭 gardens. It could become the interactive, 'Ted Treasure Hunt', finding models of particular aircraft, merch, Aircraft-scaled Victorinox, etc, for viewers and their kids 😉 Thanks for sharing, ATB Gus 👍🏼
