Cellular automaton is a concept in computer science where complexity emerges from a set of simple rules. I think this addon is trying to pay tribute to that concept. It is one of those background concepts which gets used literally everywhere from Quantum Physics to biology, used behind search algorithms, games like Minecraft and even in the making clothes you wear!

It’s based off a old “game” from 1970 called John Conways Game of Life. IMO it doesn’t have a place in Minecraft though a very select niche audience will enjoy it which the creator states is the point and isn’t meant to please everyone.

i’ve heard of Conroy’s game of life before. it’s basically a simulation on computers to simulate how life evolves that’s basically all it’s doing in Minecraft honestly it’s a unique idea and it would be good to mess around with but a lot of people don’t understand the concept of it. basically imagine a grid based version of spore if all you could do was create the initial bacteria (choosing a square or pattern) and watch it evolve and see how long it lasts.

My marketplace downloads stay at 0% i tried restarting the game, restarting my xbox ,re installing minecraft, clearing my marketplace cache, deleting old worlds for more space, turning off auto update unlocked packs and only allow trusted skins, tried some solutions online like going to xbox home and waiting a bit than going back to minecraft, nothing seems too work. And yes i tried minecraft help they just told me to do things i already did

@@ecko thank you for the link it is xbox also it only happened after i attempted to buy the 330 minecoins pack more than once which when trying to buy a second time i just get the error message "you already own this item", which since than the marketplace has been extremely buggy

The point is there is no point. I love this add-on, but it's not for everyone. It's just random strangenes. It's based on an old PC game, Game Of Life I believe, which was also a weird game lol, there are free mobile versions of the old game if anyone is into this add-on and wants to check it out.

So I actually got this addon and gave it a try. It has been a very good experience discovering ways to create mathematical structures using this addon. Though the patterns guide are definitely the main source of inspiration to me. You can even make the life collide with life that's ready there and make even cooler structures. One weird thing about the swords is that they are actually craftable, they just don't give you the recipe right away. It has a section about it in the guide book, but I believe Ecko posted this BEFORE they made the guide book better. You can also craft the robots, in case you're wondering an there is even a minicar you can craft. There is a lot of cool stuff going on with this addon, but I definitely recommend knowing what the Conway's game of life is before buying it

If you don’t know exactly what this mod is that’s a massive L because you can make canons that spews out life blocks and stuff This mod is actually based off of a real life simulation program that’s insanely fun to play The guides are to get you started as the simulation itself is a massive sandbox Making little life factories is very fun :3

Conway's Game Of Life is basically a simulation of how cells of the animal or plant create their lifeform, such us a sheep, or even us! Because the creators of the pack used the Game of Life and added it to minecraft, it'll actually simulate how animal cells reproduce and create a model of a lifeform. This is what the calm addon is trying to convey; a semi-educational upgrade to Conway's game of life that accurately creates 3d models of fictional multicellular organisms. If you people had the time account patience in a flat world, you could make an entire model of a new animal species.

Me personally I prefer Java but that doesn’t mean I don’t like bedrock like I like shaders and mods so I use Java for that but I also like bedrock’s bridging so I’d say I love both versions

The addon is potent with a decently good spine to the idea, BUT the idea is puzzling and confusing. It's based on Conway's Game of Life a "game" rising out of math theories in the 1970s. And if there's one thing Minecraft is known for, it's its deep appreciation of [checks notes] Mathematics Theories of 54 years ago. The addon needs clear indications of the WHY & the HOW of itself. Plus why is the end state of a block that promptly dies in air. If you could create the cellular towers into wood or trees that might make the addon more interesting....

Some people are whining, "you just don't like it because you don't understand it!" It is the CREATOR's job to make it understandable and likable. When you're taking a whopping 4 bucks from people, those people who gave you the money shouldn't have to work at figuring out your mess.
