There are some huge custom map packs (containing up to 2000 maps) available on the internet. Just google for "Generals skirmish map packs". Also cnclabs is a good source for individual custom maps (they don't offer map packs).

If you want to rotate buildings, click and hold the left mouse button and drag the mouse in the desired direction, then let go of the mouse button to place the building.
