This is why expert judges are so important in K-Pop competition shows. The crowd was cheering like they were amazing and were so puzzled at Soyeon's remarks, when it's obvious if you're actually watching objectively how poor of a performance it was. I'm so glad that Soyeon and the other judges are there to bring the contestants back down to earth and keep the competition fair and grounded.

That's the opposite of how it is. In the early years, idols weren't expected to have the level of talent they're expected to have now. The skill they're expected to have at singing and dancing simultaneously is extreme and absolutely unmatched by any other kind of artist. But it's also important to remember that idols aren't just singers, they're entertainers with wildly varied talents, all of which are valid.
If Soyeon along with her mates like Aiki were the mentors for every idol grp in kpop then u can just imagine how many of our favs wouldn't have even able to debut... there are so many things that majority of the idols lack but bcuz of their looks they get immense support and hype!

There are many other girls who are way greater at vocals and dancing on beat, yet none of them has been on stage ever since the show ended, but these two who are obviously lacking managed to debut. If you watched the show, you would see that these two especially yooyeon were wayyyyyy behind the other girls. The industry hasn’t changed one bit, I’m just very disappointed.
@DoctorStrange01 Жыл бұрын
Why would it change if pretty, talentless girls are what brings the most money in kpop ? Look at how popular Tzuyu, or Shuhua is, just two examples. I mean Shuhua has made a big progress but she still can't sing, she just got better at dancing, but there were probably a few trainees at CUBE back then that could do it better, it was better to include a pretty face that will bring in more international fans though. It won't change, ever, because it's coming from Korean culture, it's not just kpop, lol. Korea is the lookism capital of the world.

@@DoctorStrange01 all I’m saying is I’m disappointed that even now that we finally have great judges that obviously value talent more than visuals, the industry doesn’t show any hint of changes. The reality is sad and unfair to those who don’t fit the korean beauty standard. All that matters to the industry is how much money these kpop idols could bring. Btw it is possible to debut groups without an idol with just a pretty face. For example we have groups like new jeans, mamamoo and stayc where all of them could sing. To say that it’s ok for a group to have one pretty face means none of the other girls in the group is pretty and could attract fans and that spot could literally be given to any other talented girl. Very unfair and I could never support that. Well I never was a fan of the visual position anyway, what even is the purpose? To solely be pretty 😅

There’s a difference between anger and frustration. She was frustrated by the lack of progress being shown. Even when in the practice room they were giving a lackluster performance, instead of showing passion and enthusiasm. Regardless if you’re performing in front of your mentors or a crowd of people, that energy needs to be shown. I felt like there was no energy and the one thing I was worried about was them being in sync and yet even after multiple rewinds it showed both were, not only off beat with each other, but with the music as well. These judges are good because they see them through professional eyes, and not in the eyes of their loved ones who can be very biased, even if they show no progress, which is understandable, but gets them no where. The whole point of these shows is to get them to build their skills, find and track their weaknesses and mold them into professional entertainers who will and can continue to show progress.

She is a coach. She has to be real with them for them to understand where it went wrong so they can become better and correct their errors. ❤ To me,she is the kindest here And it’s not trying to intimidate or anything like that. Trust me,I’ve been coaching before and it is hard too keep a cold face with harsh truth because you feel somehow bad to be that real with them but you know you have to for their good.

MBC did a great job with choosing Soyeon as Main Judge she's was producer so ofc she knows what's the best for the group she even handling gidle perfectly without need Cube help's i believe Kpop would be better if more judges strict like Soyeon

Audience was cheering only cause they are pretty. I guess the standard for kpop girl idols is getting low. Singing, rapping and even the dancing was off. They were practicing the performance but they didn't improve that much...how is that possible? Everybody gets better with practise but somehow this two can't. I can see that they were getting away with everything cause they are pretty but it's time to wake up if you wanna be kpop idol.

Shld prob check them out again now that they’ve actually debuted after training more yeah they are obv the best but they’ve improved tremendously since this competition which was like 1-2 years ago both are in the same grp now and one has even went on to compete in queendom puzzle with another gro member

Your video names are getting a little bit ridiculous. Will the next video be named "Soyeon nim axe murders trainees in bloodthirsty rampage"? I understand that using #SOYEON and #GIDLE gets more clicks but jeesh. You seem to desperately want her to be the "Simon Cowell" of K-talent shows when she is already better than that. Honesty will attract more fans for your content than deception does. Give it a try.

As a judge for national competitions, there’s nothing more frustrating than you trying to correct a student flaws and on the day of their competition they are still bad if not worse than the previous times you’ve been trying to correct their flawed actions. The taller girl should have debuted vs the other smaller girl. She clearly got votes because she’s cuter which is extremely unfair because she was the most offbeat and off pitch during evaluations and the final performance. I’m not surprised that in Korea it’s more of a beauty contest than an actual talent contest.

Soyeon never says anything that's unnecessary or just straight mean with no real criticism. She was right. This performance lacked greatly. I think people have a hard time looking at things objectively in situations like this because we become so attached to their personalities but if a video of this performance has been shared without anyone knowing who they were they would have been harshly attacked by the public. By performing here and getting advice from professionals while also building a fan base they can really grow to become better artists, so yes it's sad when your faves don't make it but it's often the best for everyone and I doubt it will be the last time you see them, doesn't jisoo debut and compete on kingdom puzzle with a groupmate? It can work out in the end. Rooting for all hardworking rookies, I hope you receive the harsh criticism before it's too late and you're able to grow and debut!

I’m not a gidle fan or follow someone much but goddamn she is the first judge where I’m like blown away by not only actually critiquing and not being mean but being real af like sometimes these performances and the idols skills are just so bad and the only way to get them to step it the fuck up is to be told THAT SHIT SUCKS >< I think anyways 🤷🏽♀️ kinda hard though with a duo but that’s why you should definitely step it up better cuz it’s just you two.

I'm sorry but if I'm gonna be brutally honest I never understood why Yuyeon is so popular. Like, she's pretty and all but she never stood out to me vocally or in any of the dances. She's just... there... which is why I'm so dumbfounded as to why she's so popular among the audiences.

Lisa from BLACKPINK and Soyeon from (G)I-DLE are great mentors 💫. They achieved their dreams through hard work, passion, and determination. If trainees can't handle such situations, they won't succeed. Being a K-pop idol is no joke. Idols have fandoms that support them. Giving 100% in performances is essential. We fans have different fandoms and we see their efforts to bring us happiness. Newbie trainees should know this and so should the audience/viewers.
