Millicent Swift Really? Thank you so much!
@NaturallyMichy10 жыл бұрын
It was from an old stretched twistout, so no heat. Lol there were knots in there, but because the video speed is a little fast, you can't tell when the comb gets stuck as I'm parting the hair. I also finger detangle the hair in smaller sections at a time as I'm applying the product. The smaller the sections, the easier it is to get through. Hopefully this helps :)

No problem :)

So this is awesome. I was looking for some stylish protective hairstyles and you look like your the queen of them. I! Planning on trying this Sunday for the week. Question though, about how many twists are there besides the flat twisted ones and about how much hair did you grab for each twist?
@NaturallyMichy10 жыл бұрын
bbybear712 A LOT! Lol... I usually estimate how much hair to use for each twist depending on the thickness of each flat twist since I did those first. BUT, I believe in this case I made the twists slightly larger than the flat twists (a pinch size larger) because I knew the hairstyle would be pinned up and the accuracy of each twist wouldn't matter.

I just watched all of your videos and I love your channel ! Im officially a new subbie :) I'm actually on a 6 month protective style challenge and I usually just do box braids the whole time but now you've motivated me to get back into protective styling my actually hair. How do you get your hair so stretched before styling though ?! I usually wash mine and let it dry in medium sized 2 strand twist the night before styling but my hair is never as stretched as yours is. What's your secret ?!?
@NaturallyMichy9 жыл бұрын
NotYourAverageCurl Oh Awesome, Thank you! I actually do something similar to what you do (place them into medium-large 2 strand twists after washing) but sometimes I'll allow my hair to dry a little bit first (damp not wet), finger detangle if necessary before placing them into twists. I also found out that sometimes braiding instead of 2 strand twisting will allow my hair to stretch even longer. Hopefully this helps :)
@NotYourAverageCurl9 жыл бұрын
Millicent Swift Thank you ! That makes sense I'll have to try that next time. When you opt for the braids over the twists does your hair take more time to dry ?
@NaturallyMichy9 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. It usually takes a day to dry if I braid while wet, but half the time if damped.
@NotYourAverageCurl9 жыл бұрын
Ok thanks for the heads up ! Ive only done a braid out once in the last 3.5 years so I had no idea loll. That really helped :)

Question: how long do you keep your twists in? FACT: BEAUTIFUL style & GREAT tutorial
@NaturallyMichy10 жыл бұрын
M Money Thank you! It varies with each style, but I believe that I either kept this hairstyle in for a week or two ONLY because I get bored with wearing the same style for too long. This style could had lasted 2-3 weeks, but it's rare that I wear any style for that long.
@emmathomas20119 жыл бұрын
I love your protective styles and am trying to adopt them into my regimen for the rest of the winter. How long do you keep your styles in? Right now I wash and condition every week, but I would think you might go a little longer with all the work involved.
@NaturallyMichy9 жыл бұрын
Emma Thomas Thank you! I typically like to change up my hairstyles weekly, but that's just me. So I may not always keep the same hairstyle in longer than 3 or more days even if the hairstyle itself could last me a full week to 2 weeks. Again, that's just me and I don't mind taking 3+ hours on a hairstyle just to take it out the following day. I know it may sound a little crazy, but I've always done it that way since I'm my own hairstylist :). Of course I don't recommend anyone else doing that especially if you're looking to retain length, so most of the styles which include flat twists/ smaller 2 strand twist can last you up to 2-3 weeks, depending on your daily regimen.

Do you use bobby pins or hair pins?
@NaturallyMichy9 жыл бұрын
tmcdgreen I use both depending on whats sitting next to me. Bobby pins are good to use to firmly keep the hair down in place. Hair pins are good when you need to lay a cluster of hair/twists together in a way that conceals the pin and keeps the hair feeling light (if that makes any sense).

@NaturallyMichy10 жыл бұрын
alkebuluan merriweather Thanks. Probably in for about a week. I honestly can't remember, but usually because I change up my hair so often, it was probably no more than a week although it could had lasted longer.
