Well I took my class 1 test yesterday 11/12/20 and passed with no minors, I nearly cried! I was more proud of myself that all week I was using shunts on my reverse, on test first time bang straight in. Could not believe it! I start my new job with my company in the new year on class 1.

Nice man, I’m hoping after lockdown to start the process, how long does it roughly take from getting your provisional to medical to all theory’s tests/ training and assessments ? Can you be done with everything in a month or is there a lot of waiting around for things to be processed?

I failed my reversing test on Saturday. The instructor over complicated it all and only gave me less than 1 hours tuition before my test. Anyway..I'm going back today to re sit and I must say I feel way more comfortable this time after watching this on repeat since then. The tuition in this video is simple and clear. Completely different from the standard of tuition where I am training. Unfortunately I'm no where near your area otherwise I would have booked in with you guys! 👊😁

WOW WOW WOW. I am from Canada Toronto Ontario and I went to school for truck and trailer. I can easily tell you guys that the way you teach is amazing. Here they do not know how to explain this backing. In Canada we call this Offset backing and no one and I mean no one knows how to instruct this one. Even the 90 degrees backing in Canada to learn is just one tunnel towards hell. Plus your trucks are amazing Mercedes with flat front. Here they are Mack, International, and the best ones are the Volvo. the first two are junk. Thanks for your perfect way of explanation. Cheers.

Interesting, wish I had video tutorials back I my day. It wasn’t uncommon to go through three or four trailers a day when I started driving. Some were 40 ft and some 45 ft with either a twin axle 8 wheel trailer or a triple axle 6 wheeled trailer. All turned differently due to the drag when manoeuvring sharply and also the overhang was different. Because of the variations one thing I’d do with a new trailer is once hitched up to it I’d place a coke can at the very back of the trailer on the ground. I’d then hop into the cab and look at the can through the mirror and check which strap on the curtain lined up with it. It meant that looking through the mirror I knew exactly where the end of the trailer was even if I was backing into a bay that had the weather proofing seals on the bay. It meant you could stop within a few inches of the required spot. Also note that you don’t want to park the trailer against the bump stops on the loading bay as some of the doc ramps get caught when they are lifted from the park position before they extend into the trailer. Best to pull forward a bit for clearance! One other point, this exercise although handy is no where near as important as reversing a trailer at 90 degrees onto a bay, especially one which has a unit and trailer either side. That really is an exercise that should be taught and tested on!

I am watching these videos not because I drive lorries, but because I work nights on a commercial recovery yard. Best of luck, Take your time and remember, there is nothing wrong with having a stop and think. Keep the basics in the back of your mind if you want to trade a straight up, steer into the mirror with more trailer, and if you wanted to bend stay the opposite way, keep the angles small, it's easier to control a small angle angle. And don't forget to take your shunts "if you need them", don't be a hero. Hope all goes well 👍👍👍👍🤞🤞🤞🤞

I have now decided to do the training again because my confidence was knocked massively.
@NationalDrivingCentre6 ай бұрын
So sorry the hear that. As long as you have not obscured the left-hand A cone with the B cone then the Examiner can't do anything. Listen very carefully to the wording that the Examiner use at the beginning briefing. If you have any questions at that point ask him now for example, "if I was to pull up close to the left-hand cone, would you have an issue with this?" As long as the cones on obscured by the vehicle, and there should be no problem at all. You can download the wording and the procedure online from the government website. Hope this helps and best of luck for the tests 🤞🤞👍👍👍

Very good information here given I’m waiting to do my class 1 training from car and I’m actually looking forward to learning how to operate theses machines, gotta drive them with a great deal of respect as your driving killing machines really, but this is probably the exercise I’m a bit cautious about but watching the driver do this so easy gives me hope

I still have absolutely no idea how I managed to pass my C&E last year. No issues driving or splitting the unit & trailer. Reverse, well, I managed it but how? On C2 at the moment just looking for that lucky break with a firm that would mentor me. Brilliant video, spot on with the classroom start!

On my C2 my instructor said to dry steer before moving, I did this on the test even though I felt I shouldn't and I didn't like the look on the examiners face but he didn't say anything and I passed, I now have my C1 coming up end of March, I think I will do it the same as you guys which is how I did on my D1 test although that coach didn't have power steering.
@NationalDrivingCentre2 жыл бұрын
Although dry steering may give you a drivers fault (depending on the Examiner), it won't fail you however for any professional driver with a high standard it is frowned upon. Best of luck for your test hope all goes well.👍👍👍

I had my module 3a training and test a few days ago. The training was from 7am-4pm and was learning how to reverse and uncouple and couple the hgv. We had 1 Hgv between the 3 of us and 1 instructor. We started at 7am and spend about 2.5 hours learning how to couple and uncouple and each took a turn how to do it practically as you would in the test. Around 10am we then moved onto reversing the hgv. All 3 of us had no experience of driving any sort of articulated Vechile but one guy had a lgv class 2 licence. We all was pretty bad and even though from 10am we took turns to do the manoeuvre none of us was able to complete it by 1.30pm. As I was the last one to do it the instructor told me to take my go and just let me try while he watched. As I was watching this video whilst the others were taking their goes I just took it slow and used the methods in this video. It was like a miracle and I was able to complete the reverse manoeuvre in 1 go no shunts needed and in the box. The instructor and the other 2 guys were all surprised as before this try not a single one of us could do it. So the instructor then said to recap the coupling and uncoupling from 1.30-2.15pm as the assessor was due to arrive around 2.30pm. Again we all did the training and remembering BLACK which I learnt from another NDC video was able to do it with ease. As the assessor hadn’t turned up we went back to the reversing. I went first as the other 2 guys were shy to try and again I completed the reverse but this time with a shunt but again no input from the instructor. As I was able to do it the instructor then told the other 2 guys to keep trying until the assessor arrived. I did mention to the other 2 guys to also watch this clip but they didn’t bother. Both the guys had excuses as to why they couldn’t do it such as other people practice, or the seat is wrong or the ground isn’t level anything they could think of really. The assessor then turned up around 3pm collected our licences and turned out I was up first. Started of with the reverse and was close to the b cone but was able to complete it with no shunts and in the box. Moved onto the uncoupling and nearly did BLACK in reverse lucky remembered that was for coupling and saved myself from failing. Went through the test as we practised and used what I had learnt from the NDC clips and passed first time. I think me doing the test first gave the other 2 guys hope they may pass however the next candidate who was the stronger out the 2 failed as shunted forwarded twice and kept putting himself in front of the b cone and got stuck. The third guy was the weakest of the 3 of us and I didn’t see him do his test but it’s highly unlikely he would of passed as in the training he never once did it correctly even with the support of the instructor and the final few times in practicing he ended up outside the yellow lines. So far I have passed module 1,2,3a and 4 first time by using these clips. I wouldn’t say my 3a training was adequate as we was essentially taught an answer and not a method which wasn’t helpful but by watching this clip I learnt the minor details such as slight movement in steering and looking into the mirrors and positioning. The instructor didn’t provide as much detail and as we was all new I found using the NDC clip showed points where he had glossed over. A strong learner such as myself who is able to use online training and is good at self learning would be okay but as the other 2 guys were rightfully worried as they now had to pay another £400 each to redo the training and test which I feel again would not be beneficial for them if working in a group of 3 as they probably benefit from the 1:1 training as they was very weak in developing their skills. I did recommend the NDC KZbin and hopefully they use it as I have as it has been very beneficial. The training providers I have are all booked by HGVT and this far haven’t really been upto par considering the money being paid. If I was working with NDC I feel I would of gotten a better service but luckily I’m putting in the effort by watching these KZbin clips and reading material to help me on my journey and hopefully pass the 3b training and test in a couple of weeks time
