I'm not a dyed in the wool fan of Ms Dion. I DO admire her talent, and it's so refreshing to hear someone (esp amongst all the so-called 'singers'of today) who understands and uses m melisma (note-bending) as a tool, and NOT the be-all of every song. Too many people who are given credit, today, think begging LOUD (and doing it throughout a song) is how to sing. It isn't. Not it's vending notes - or ANY tool constantly, 'singing'. Ms Dion has a natural gift, which MOST of today's...singers could learn from. As the old saying goes, 'keep 'em coming back for more'

Celine has clearly spent time to make her tone sound right. Whenever she sings, it always sound like it fits perfectly. There is often at least one little thing i dislike that other singers do, but she never seams to over do it like many other talented singers do. But yet she also does not underwhelm either because like i said, she spent time developing the correct tone for the song and how to say the words.

I have heard many different artists, try to sing this song over the years and I always said, that no-one could sing it like Etta James. However after listening to Celine Dion sing it here, I actually think she sings it better. Etta James is iconic and definitely sings it great, but Celine sounds more smooth and her voice is better than ever. Never thought I would say this but Celine's version is by far the best ever. Celine Dion you should definitely sing this type of song more often, it does justice to your voice and you sound amazing. Please sing more Etta James or some Nina Simone songs. ♥️♥️

You're wrong Shelly. Etta singing it makes me stop what I'm doing and listen. She has true depth of soul and most singers don't have such depth. Celine, though a great singer, does not have that depth. It's beautiful but does not make me stop and listen. Just the way Etta starts the song is so different. When Etta sings it I believe every word she sings. She's telling me a story.
